    Morning all

    Page 2 and it's not 9.30am yet?! That's a record for a Saturday I think :rotfl:

It's a lovely looking morning here. I am off to Cardiff way to watch some of the Wales Rally GB. Got some complimentary tickets from my ex-OH who is a semi-pro rally co-driver, it's worthwhile staying friend's with him for that as the tickets are worth over £100 :rotfl:.

So not much OS here today. I've made a list this morning of stuff I need to do so will work on that tomorrow. Tonight will be Strictly and X Factor, well might miss some of Strictly. dinner will be freezer surprise probably.

We had a call from mum and 10.30 last night to say that dad had fallen from the bed again, luckily we had put a duvet on the floor next to him so no damage, my lovely OH :A raced up there and lifted him back into the bed, will have to try and get something today which will stop him from falling.

My nana, and grandad when he was alive, both has bed guards so try and stop them falling out of bed. they got them from a mobility shop for around £20 each

    Have a good day all

Good morning, all. Hope you are all well and, Hester, hope you're not too bruised after your fall.

It's rained here constantly for the last two days but it's actually stopped now - I'm keeping an eye on it before I put the washing out.

I've been helping out at our local pig farm this week. They are opening their new tearoom/cafe next Saturday, alongside their farmer's market and Christmas Fayre, which DH and I will be helping out with, too. DH is there this morning helping to fit a woodburner and do a few other jobs that I volunteered him for, so I'm enjoying some uninterrupted peace and quiet.

Dinner today will be the rest of a huge chicken stew I made with a carcass from a chicken I jointed. There was an amazing amount of meat on it and I can hardly believe I'm getting enough meals for two days from it. It's a bit of a pain jointing a chicken - especially with tendonitis in the hands - but so worth it for how far it stretches.

I spent yesterday morning baking; now that I almost have a working kitchen (it just needs tiling) I am getting my cooking mojo back - I've really missed it and DH says he's missed the homemade cakes, so it's great to be baking again. I made a Victoria sponge and a fruit cake yesterday, and I have enough stale bread to make a bread pudding and a bread-and-butter pudding for later on in the week. I've been buying cakes for convenience lately and they are just not the same. I shall also get back to soup-making especially now that it is definitely winter.

Well, I have some really interesting dusting and vacuuming to do so I'd better get on with it. Having Strictly, and Pillars of the Earth to look forward to later will spur me on.

Have a great day and I hope the weather improves for some us!

    Morning all!

OH was up bright and early to go and look at a job, so it's just me and the woofer at the moment. I've put a wash on, and want to stick the dog bed and cover for our sofa in today too (not that the same time!)

No idea what to do for dinner tonight, We've got pork fillet, pork chops, chicken thighs and mince but just can't decide what to do, going to have to flick through my cook books for some inspiration. Would like to attempt to bake some bread again and maybe a cake as we have no savoury ingredients.

Plan to spend a couple of hours job hunting today, and might go to see OH's parents, as we haven't seen any of our family since we annouced the engagment, and will see my mum tomorrow and my dad as and when we can as he lives far away.

    Have a good day all!!

managed a lie in today as DS at his dads. He went to his school disco last night......first time ever:p. I had to stay with him for half an hour until he felt safe. He then said I could go as he had started wandering around with an older boy who looked like he was on the spectrum too;).
I then hung around in the cold for an hour outside incase he came looking for me:o......am such a sad parent:cool:. When we went back in to get him they were both still wandering around happy but totally oblivious to everyone else dancing and having fun.
OH is making us a cooked breakfast this morning:T and we are having steak and chips for tea. Planning a day of lounging and watching DVDS as we need some time off......may wrap some xmas pressies tho too;)
Bitsy thats a shame about feather bow....you would think they would at least ring you back:(....having looked at that site I like these two beauties http://southbham.cats.org.uk/index.asp?m=gallery&id=3&p=2 the face on the one on the right is fantastic....i would love those 2 if Fatcat was willing;)
Redruby your poor dad falling out of bed. Putting my nurses head on do you know why he falls out? Does he roll out or fall trying to get up? if he rolls out sometimes making sure the floor is padded with mattresses is sometimes a safer option than cotsides. Hope your mum is ok...it much be such an awful time for her bless her:(
Tru sorry to hear about the hen:o

well off to look for a Satnav as OH after one for Xmas......DS already sorted for Xmas with Sylvanian families stuff:o....he wants to take the sylvanian families booklet to a Santas grotto to go through it with him and make sure he knows the correct toilets to get for the house etc:eek: oh joy!

Goodness it is busy on here this morning. I couldn't sleep this morning so got wm on, dw unloaded, floors swept and mopped and was up at Morrisons for when they opened at 8. I like to get in and out quickly on saturdays as our local one is quite small and you can't move round it by about 10 o clock for the rest of the day. They must make a fortune!!

Now I can't remember who it was that posted about can can wool scarves (its my age you know:D) but I got a ball of it from my local wool shop yesterday and have started making one - its great!!!! The only problem is getting hold of the wool, I literally got the last ball in the shop (a lovely christmas-y red colour) and the shop owners tell me it is like getting gold dust! I would love to make some for christmas presents but dont know when they will get stocks in. Oh well fingers crossed.

Going to do some baking today, lemon drizzle cake, promised OH some cherry scones and not sure what else. We are doing a large family dinner tomorrow, bought a lovely piece of pork and think we may finish off with sticky toffee pudding, so may do the sponge bit of that this afternoon then just have the toffee sauce to do tomorrow, should make it a bit easier.

RR (((Hugs))) I should try the bed guard as others have suggested perhaps Age Concern might be able to help. By the way, what on earth are Cheesy Nabs??

Tru sorry to hear about your hen, must have been awful for you finding her.

(((Hugs))) to all feeling poorly or low. Have a nice saturday all

  • Done, Lou! Niclou I bought some online, it was £8.97 a roll or whatever its called, oh a ball, that's what it is, It arrived yesterday and I plan on starting it tomorrow, my sisters and SisILs had agreed no pressies, but I'll knit them one each, and they'll be delighted, they know I'd rather give them a gift than receive anyway, so there will be no embarrassment about it.

  • I forgot to ask has anyone cooked pork collar before and what did you do?
I got one in a meat box I ordered online and fancied using it tomorrow.
