Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Sorry about that - laptop decided to freeze, so I had to reboot :o

Good morning  DDand I went to Dunelm yesterday and I bought some sheeting to back her patchwork quilt. I now need to set aside a couple of days to sandwich it all together and finish off :j

I'm taking the children to swim club soon (putting a chciken carcase in the Rayburn to make stock before I go), then coming back to make minestrone soup and some tear and share bread for lunch.

This evening I'm out for a curry and Strictly and the children are off to a fundraiser in memory of the dad of a friend who died ear;ier in the year.

Have a great Old Style Day everyone :A

Morning PenPen & all who cross & follow

its a bit nippy here this morning but i forgot to look at the temperature before i left the house so i`ve no idea if its just me or its really cold.

Not a lot to report really, i put the washing machine on as soon as i got up to take advantage of the cheap electricity and turned off the dishwasher, DH will empty those when he gets up.

Younger woofaloe is still on scrambled eggs - so far so good as she slept through all last night :j DH will be doing the supermarket run and walking the houndies as i`m at work for most of the day. Can`t complain really as its overtime and there`s not much of it about so i`m really lucky.

DH will be off to visit his new employer later to get a list of his new hours and confirm his starting date - it should be this week all being well so hoping for good news later.

Tea tonight will me spicy meatballs and noodles, i made the meatballs a while ago and popped them in the freezer so a nice easy meal for us tonight :D

Offski to do some w*rk and make another cuppa:D

    Have a cracking Saturday peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Morning all

Have been awake since 5am , and have been unable to do anything for fear of waking the OH, who is at home for the first time in aaaages. So, I've chatted to my FIL on facebook, read some MSE posts and carried on with my crochet.

It's freezing here this morning, but I might take the dog out in a min, as I love early autumn/winter mornings which aren't wet :)

As for today, we have nothing at all planned for the daylight hours, apart from OH going to see his sports massage bloke as he feels like he's falling apart at the seams! I might see if one of my friends can meet me in town to walk our dogs in the park together, and then it's home for Strictly and Pillars of the Earth :D

Tea tonight is veal meatbals from Waitrose (2 for £4), in a tomato and mascarpone sauce, with gnocchi and mozzarella on top. Quick, easy and delicous.

    Have a good day all.

    T xx

  • Morning All,
    :D
Damp up here but it looks like its brightening up! DH is off to work, and the boys are having a long lie - they were up until almost midnight watching movies and having a midnight feast in bed! (apples and toast) So Coco and I are enjoying the peace and quiet, she's been out in the back garden menacing the neighbourhood cats (really they are doing the menacing as she's fenced in now, so they torture her by sitting just beyond her reach :rotfl: )

Plan for the day is to do some baking, I never bothered yesterday, I did nothing:o and washing and make a vat of chilli for dinner tonight, I think I may make some doughnuts as a surprise for the boys, and they can eat them whilst watching X Factor which is rapidly losing its charm for me. I also fancy going to the shops for an hour or two, I need to get my Christmas shopping started.

Hope all are well, and that Molly and EssexGirl are getting better, and that mums, dads, and pooches are all coming along nicely too. Hugs spoons and hi fives all round.

Mornign folks damp and dreary here today. Off for a day out to a friends, taking DGS along so it will be eventful!! We are going to have a mooch round one of the affluent neighbouring towns charity shops today. There are usually fantastic bargains but I am sure since we are all looking for bargains there might not be so many!
Been really busy this week so havent been on much, doing a table sale next week so hoping to sell some of my scarves again, and going to clear out some bric-a-brac too. Every little helps.
Tea tonight will be a mince round from the butchers with mashed tatties carrots and peas, followed by apple crumble and custard - simple but homely!
Hope you all have a good day, hugs to anyone who needs them!

Morning everyone. Cold and bright in the NE and I've been sitting at the computer since 6.00a.m. and now a bit frozen.

Yesterday I cooked a huge potful of mince and divided it into chilli and bolognaise sauces and then into portions for the freezer. Same with some pea and mint soup. Stocks had dwindled but now ready for the next couple of weeks. There is so much raw meat in the freezer which needs to be cooked and then used up - sometimes I wonder if a freezer really is more convenient, but just how I use it! And then I forget to get something out in the morning. :o

Just got the suitcase unpacked, everything washed and put away and now have to go away again, this time for work and not as lovely as the holiday. I keep a small case almost ready and need to add the clothes.

Will watch my beloved Time Team this morning, one eye on the TV and the other doing household stuff.

OS is buying nothing, using hardly anything and not being here!

The new condenser boiler means that there is a never ending amount of lovely hot water for the shower, so I spend longer in there and use up more energy and water (metered) than ever before. But I love it! So, took a tip from my Aussie SIL and bought an egg timer thingy - the one you turn over and sand runs through it - and will, really really will, only have one turn of the timer in the shower.

Happy Saturday to everyone - good vibes to those who need them.

Morning all. Got up to find my first attempt at making soy yogurt was a complete flop :( One jar is slightly thick but really bitty, another had big lumps on top and a disgusting yellow water underneath! I'm going to try again with another brand of milk when I get back from work, and monitor the temperature a bit more closely!
I just read that the milk can still be used if it fails so I'll pop the jars in the fridge and see what happens.

Work today, I don't fancy it but eh, it's gotta be done. Then home for yogurt no.2 and lots and lots of work... Not sure what to have for breakfast? Not feeling porridge or toast?
