Chilly in Yorkshire - Morning all - what a day I have today! Its my youngests birthday party tomorrow and I've got my neighbours kids from 11am. Have already been out to Mr T with my youngest so he can choose a birthday cake - I'd normally bake my own, but haven't got the time this year. He chose a cake that looks like a nintendo DS. I can only imagine his face when he opens his birthday presents and finds a real one (recycled from me!!). So have various bits of tidying up and the normal housework to do. Need to inspect the garden and the roof to see if the high winds have done any damage.
Almost half 8 - Got to be in town at 9 to return something to a carpet shop - OH didn't like my choices
so will have another try. Will wrap up warm and get out into the garden then. Hugs to everyone. Have a great weekend. Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
I had a lie in this morning & didn't get up til 7.30, hubby's glued to the TV watching the Abu Dhabi GP practice, no plans for today, just housework & knitting, hubby will eat finger food all day today, in front of the TV. Tomorrow we are off to BIL's to sort out his electrics & then to MIL's for lunch for her birthday. I didn't blitz the kitchen last night, I sat & knitted, hubby didn't want me standing on my bruised knees, they looks dramatic but doesn't hurt. For those who don't read my blog I fell over along my side path, rushing to look for some wool the postman had delivered.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all............................(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Its a bright monring, but the wind, which was supposed to die down overnight, is till blowing a hoolie, so chilly methinks, although I have not put my nose out the door yet.Pity I have not got a laod of washing it would soon dry in the wind. Unusual to get so much up here.
OH could not get off to sleep last night so was reading and drinking tea at 2am. I will have to go through and wake him shortly, he will have to catch up with his sleep tonight. I want to try out the new baby and do some baking this morning, need the brekkie pots away.
Supper tonight, cheese and leek quiche with salad.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning :hello:
What an icky week. Harry Hen died
She was kind of wrapped around the branches at the base of a bush - I think she got herself trapped and broke her neck while she struggled to get out
My tooth fell out
Can't afford a dentist, but the gum is healing nicely so it'll be OK. It's at the back, so I don't care
Miss tru had a cold, but then ended up wheezing and not be able to breath. She had asthma when she was younger but seemed to grow out of it. The doc thinks she may have it again, and as she's older she'll have it for good. He gave her an inhaler so we'll see how it goes.
The front and back gardens are covered in leaves, I'll rake them up today and pile them up in an old rabbit cage to make some leaf mold.
The chickens broke the fence surrounding my sprouts, and ate the lot  I like to pick them on Christmas morning, ready for lunch. I'll have to buy some now - fresh from a local farm shop, not that bitter rubbish you get in the supermarkets.
I bought 2 tins of Roses yesterday - that's me ready for Christmas then
I have loads to do, and I want it all done by 2pm. I have an afternoon appointment with the sofa, a large bar of chocolate and a few episodes of Fringe

Morning all,
I did ask if I could join you all a couple of weeks ago and then my internet started playing up, all sorted now though
I don't think it seems too cold here this morning, I am in my fluffiest, warmest pyjamas though. I've already done a wash so need to get that out and dry and I have a HUGE pile of ironing to do
THink I might put it off for a bit and make some flapjacks with lo, oh likes them to take to work.
Tea, toast and shower and I'll be ready for the day...thats the plan anyway, I had a few too manys wines last night so we shall see!
Have a good Saturday everybody!0 -
tru thats a shame about your wee chicken, funnily enough I was thinking about yours and Camelot's chickens this morning. I know, I am a bit random at times
I hope Camelots little chooks are doing well in their new home - Camelot if you read this later, tell me what the weather's like up there, and if there are any leaves left on the trees, we might come up for a wee drive tomorrow.
As for the Roses, tru, I bought mine the other day, and as OH hasn't had a chance to put things in the loft for me yet, he's driving about with them in the boot of his car to keep them out of reach from me

Morning all,
Looks a bit grey outside, I could really do with it brightening up, as I have three loads to wash and get dry.
Need to hoover through (OH can do that) and tidy up, I also want to wash down the landing windows, I have some beautiful made to measure voile blinds up there, which are normally rolled down all the time, I rolled them up yesterday to find a nice lot of mould growing behind them
, so will tackle that today.
I also want to nip to Mr T, need a book for my mums birthday and some dolly shoes for dd. Will then go and get mums dog and take her and little dog our for a long run.
We had a call from mum and 10.30 last night to say that dad had fallen from the bed again, luckily we had put a duvet on the floor next to him so no damage, my lovely OH :A raced up there and lifted him back into the bed, will have to try and get something today which will stop him from falling.
Tea tonight is cheesy nabs
, will pick dd up from her friends later on, she got charged an adult price at the cinema last night she is only 15, so will call them later on too. (edit have just looked this up she is classed as an adult from the age of 15 , but could get a student ticket if she had proof of age)
Hugs to Molly and EG, hope you are both on the mend.
Dazi, how is your mum doing ? xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Dry and becoming brighter. Not sure about the temperature though as I haven't ventured out yet.
DH up at stupid early o'clock and gone to work, I got up with him and made a us both a cuppa, I was going to go back to bed, but couldn't sleep. Will be cracking on with the last bits of ironing, also need to get a newspaper and take a parcel to the PO - will be doing those jobs shortly. Both boys are up and had brekkie, so my peace has been shattered! Last night dinner was southern fried chicken pieces and chips for DH and boys and chicken and jacket pot and salad for me - easy dinner after being quite busy for a couple of days.
Will be wrapping the x**s prezzies to take to my parents for them to take to my sis's next week when they go for a visit.
Tonight's dinner I think will be a takeaway for a treat - haven't had one for a while so will be nice change and easy dinner for me! Stayed the same at the scales yesterday so feel a bit disappointed as had been quite good all week, but will plod on and see what this week brings.
Spent a bit more money food shopping than I wanted to but stocks had run down of quite a lot of things so needed everything all at once, I did visit MrT to get some of their 3for2 baking offers - what a rip-off, their own brand strong bread flour is £1.29 in MrL it's only 60p at normal price but down to 50p at the moment! Did get baking done yesterday, spent a theraputic afternoon in the kitchen, made a doz mince pies, maids of honour, weetabix choc brownies (never made this before and oh so yummy!) and a fruit tea loaf - that will keep them all quiet for a while! Tomorrow's lunch will be roast pork, roasties, mash, veg, yorkshires and gravy.
Have menu planned but may have the usual swapping about but shouldn't need to buy anything more, except possibly milk.
Will now go and crack on, have a great weekend everyone.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning everyone, thought I'd pop in here for a change.

DS1 has gone to work. His shifts were really bad this week with several late finishes which meant he couldn't get home so had to stay at his gf's. I hope her mum doesn't mind. Still, he got his first weeks wages and bought himself a new xbox to replace his broken one which can't be fixed. The next thing on his list to get is a laptop, then he's going to start saving so that he and his gf can get a flat.
DS2 and hubby are still in bed so it's just me and the animals. It's pretty quiet, but Nibbler cat is wandering around the house chatting to himself. He's part bengal and they're really chatty cats!
Got chicken stock going in the slow cooker and bread rising. Not sure what to do for dinner tonight but saw chilli mentioned above and that sounds like a good idea, so think that's what I'll do.
Need to go to Countrywide today to get dog food and bedding for the chickens. The girls spent the last two days going in and out of the coop because of the wind and rain, but it's nice and sunny this morning so I expect they'll enjoy a bit of sunbathing!
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all. Got up to find my first attempt at making soy yogurt was a complete flop
One jar is slightly thick but really bitty, another had big lumps on top and a disgusting yellow water underneath! I'm going to try again with another brand of milk when I get back from work, and monitor the temperature a bit more closely!
I just read that the milk can still be used if it fails so I'll pop the jars in the fridge and see what happens.
How are you making it? I use Whole UHT Milk and your starter yoghurt MUST be fresh - that's probably what's not worked.Morning :hello:

Mmmmmm Joshua Jackson <eyes glaze over with lust> although I have to say I am getting a bit bored of this whole alternate universe thing..........
Sorry about Harry Hen......hope she didn't suffer
xxxx
Enjoy your choclate

I don't know if a childs bed guard will fit onto a double bed - I assume your parents aren't in separate beds. If they are and he's in a single then a bed guard is ideal and only £20 if memory serves.
Morning my lovelies
Gorgeous sunshine here, still no sign of many of the oak leaves dropping grrrrrr. Need to pick some broccoli as they are getting a bit leggy.
FIL dropped round a reduced cooked chicken last night so will strip the bird and fancy a chicken and leek pie for tea. Could also bung in some of my broccoli too......
Off to a Christmas fair at a church hall at midday - just want to check out what some people are selling
H is at work this morning, hope he's not there too long. DS is feeling MUCH better, back to bouncing off the walls so a clear sign all is well  Going to take him back round to see my mums new cat. Speaking of which I rang the lady regarding Feather Bow on Tuesday to say we'd love to adopt her, had to leave a message and heard nowt back. If they can't be bothered to call me back then I am afraid I shall look elsewhere.
think that's enough rambling from me. Back aching today as I ended up in DS's bed a couple of times last night. Don't think doing a lot of sitting down is helping and I've not been as active as I am normally due to DS being poorly.
Molly - Hugs for you, hope your OK xx
Essex Girl - Hugs for you too, hope your OK aswell xx
Dazi - not heard from you, hope things are OK with your mum xx
Sorry if I've missed anyone.
Hugs, spoons and high fives. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
