My DD and I still have a BFing relationship (she is 18 months) and I am wondering now whether to wean her to enter the world of tandem nursing. I'd love to hear other people's stories.
No answers I'm afraid but I did wonder how it worked with the colostrum, will the regular milk turn off and colostrum start at the birth and will the toddler drink it?

feel a bit better after bath I think what has happened is my back has gone again
I have my bump band from last time so I think Ill try giving that a whirl if not then Ill have to find an osteopath thats what helped last time but they are so expensive!!
OH has decided to come in grumpy! I know hes tired from work with this new job but he really needs to sort his attitude out otherwise bump wont be the only one doing the internal bruising around here. Anyway ive sent him out to get me egg fried rice and chips!!! yummy yummy yummy!!!
On a better note I found a bag today of all ds's bits inc another brand new pack of nappys (bambino mios!!) I did wonder if I had two but I was thinking I only bought one - looks like I did in fact buy two and most of the covers in this one are unopened very un-mse of me!!!:o anyway its nice to find - also a cot mobile Id forgotten about(removed soon after bought as ds used to tug it down somehow), a bouncer also forgotten and a playmat also forgotten :rotfl:who knows what else I may find as theres a couple of bags in this cupboard which seem to be baby related!!! Oh and I found a brest pump - random as im pretty sure I gave mine away.............maybe this isnt my bag :eek:I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Hi all
I'm going to do a massive reply now.
first of all, Gizmodo, don't panic about birth! Yes, some people have difficult births but plenty more have births that are 'easy' or at least 'copable with'. My DD was born at home, on dry land, with gas and air for the last hour only, and while yes, I did feel at the end like I was going to split in half (apparently some women get pressure on the clitoris which makes it feels like everything down there will split. I was one of those 'lucky' ones) it was fine, a natural birth all the MWs and health professionals cooed over when they read my notes, so if all is fine, and you trust your body and do what it says then it ought to be totally OK> If you're worried, get a copy of CHildbirth Without Fear by Grantley !!!!!!-Read which explains how the body works during labour. I found it sooo helpful.Princess_Coupon wrote: »No answers I'm afraid but I did wonder how it worked with the colostrum, will the regular milk turn off and colostrum start at the birth and will the toddler drink it?
Oh OBEM is starting now
The milk supply usually, but not always, gets less as pregnancy goes on, and can go dry (toddlers can still nurse a dry breast as they often use it for comfort and closeness not food), and around the 5th month the colostrum comes in apparently, so toddler would get colostrum not milk. So it's a gradual process of change, led by hormones, and because the milk tastes different and often gets less, then it's a natural time to wean. Cna you tell I've been readng up?!?Krystaltips wrote: »Welcome back to the pregnancy thread Skinty, I'm still breastfeeding and plan to continue through the next 3-5 weeks and beyond... What did you want to know?

Hi Krystal. I've read Adventures in Tandem Feeding and am halfway through How Weaning Happens, so I really wanted to talk so someone who has done it, to know how they decided which way to go, as I am undecided but currently more in favour of weaning I think.
What has your experience been? I'm really interested to know as much as possible about all this! I never thought I'd 'still' be BFing when pregnant with the next.Rockinbikergal wrote: »Welcome to the thread skintchick .......do you want us to add you to the EDD list yet or will we just send some sticky bean vibes??? WOuld also love to help with your query but I'm on my first
I think I'll wait a bit. I saw there's a less than 12 weeks PG thread and I might join that. It's just that having had a mc before I'm a little wary of assuming a live baby is going to result as it is such early days.
