    Evening ladies...

SA - Oliver is gorgeous!!!! You must be so proud...

OTE - Use the TENS sooner rather than later is what i've been advised - Good luck hun, hope its the real thing!!!

Chakani - Sending labour vibes your way.....

I'm a Samantha too, wouldn't have thought it was me they're looking for, although I could use a nice big shiny rock to cheer me up.....

Just had a lovely roast chicken dinner and we all sat down together to eat, which is rare in our house with OH working shifts, going to try to do it more often while we're both off work (baby permitting)

Having a bounce about on my ball, hoping to get things moving, got a dvd to watch 'Jumper' has anyone seen it??? And then I think we might cuddle up and watch PS I love you - hormones permitting....

    Hope everyone is well???

    Evening ladies.

Just had a phone call from my midwife, on a Sunday evening, scared was not the word.

Anyway, turns out I'm anaemic (had bloods done last week at 28 weeks) so she has told me to go to the docs tomorrow for a prescription for iron tablets. Apparently they can cause constipation, which I am a little bit already! Anyone know of anything I can do to minimise constipation?

Giz my list is just about the same as yours but I have a bag for DH too as he wants to take a spare t shirt, deodrant, wipes and food and drink. He is also in charge of the camera!
Oops thanks for reminding me again to remind OH to get himself a few bits together. He's already informed me that he has a stash of lucozade in the car for himself!
I wrote about a week ago that I thought I was feeling the baby move on 2 seperate days. Ive not felt it since :( Maybe its because I want to feel it lol and the other times it just happened.
Yesterday I felt all day like my bladder was full but just trickles at the loo which was annoying! Dont know if 17 weeks is too early for baby to be at my bladder and making a difference? Also got a tummy ache later in the day so Im stressing now, Im such a worrier! Just hoping things are ok with little one.
When I started feeling bubbles (about 18/19 weeks) I would go days without feeling a thing. So I wouldn't worry at this very early stage :)
I'm after a bit of advice. Ive been having sparadic contractions all day. Been bouncing on my ball and got clary sage going in the oil burner. Thing is my hubby has recently started a new job working 11 hrs shifts and he is working tonight. It is only a 5 min walk away but it may take a while to get cover. I don't know what to do. Shall I let him go to work?

    thanks

EDIT: at what point do you start using a tens machine?
I just told my OH and he's getting quite upset that everyone appears to be having their babies before me! I want to hold out till next week though. I'm having my birthday party on Saturday and would like to have it now :) A 11-2-11 baby would be cool.

As for TENS - my instructions say when you are 1cm dilated. How you are supposed to know that I don't know. I asked the same q a while ago and have decided just to use it when I'm 90% sure I'm in labour. To be effective you need to use asap really as it takes a while to build up the endorphins.

    I've been Money Tipped!
With regards to breastfeeding vs bottle feeding cost's I really cannot see any justification that breastfeeding is as costly as bottlefeeding, I (yes slightly minging to some) bought a few bra bundles off of ebay for around about £20 in total. I have 4x 36 D's (the size I am now) 4x 34 D's (my usual back size and up my usual cup size) 2 x 34 DD's and 2 x 36 DD's and 4 x sleep drop cup croptop type bra's in medium.

A nice assortment of sizes to see me through the first weeks.

They are all really nice bra's for the price of one bra at mothercare! Anyway, my point is rather than kit myself out for a small fortune I pre-kitted my self out incase I dont see it passed the first 3 months or decide to splash out on new ones once these melons have settled in to a less fluctuating size.

Ask if you can take Spatone instead? It's supposedly gentler on the stomach. Costs about £7 for 30 sachets though. I took it as a preventative measure in the early days prior to the blood tests. I never noticed an increase in constipation.

The main thing about constipation is being well hydrated, so keep your fluids up. If you are still having caffeine count a caffeinated drink as 1/2 a cup of fluid. Ideally try and drink water.

ema - i had that last night and was wondering the same thing, was really strange! Was like a vibration.
The vibration is apparently the baby stretching :)

Also take the iron tablets with orange juice - something in orange helps the absorption of iron. And avoid milk and milk based products as it is not good for the absorption of iron.
