    Morning All

Im going to have a moan but first I'll answer Sharkey cos think I'll forget otherwise! I should think your normal bra will be ok if that is what you have worn all the way through, they just say maternity bras in the notes as that what pg women are supposed to wear I guess.

Did you go on a hospital tour? It varies between each one about having to take your own bottles in. We dont have to in ours but I think in the ones where you do you dont have to take a steriliser as they have one near the ward that you can use, just take your own formula etc. Prob best to ask your midwife, she will know the answer (and more than likely ask if you have thought about breastfeeding lol).

Right onto my moan..............OW OW OW!!!!

My hips hurt so much. They didnt get this bad last time I swear, I cant turn over in bed without being in pain, walking is impossible and Im just tired and sick of it all!! Have just had some codeine so hoping it eases up a bit.

Getting my gorgeous daughter back today, its only been a couple days but my god the house is quiet. I need a maggie cuddle!!

Actually, mums of 2 or more..........do you/did you ever worry about not being able to love number 2 (or more) as much as your first? It worries me, I know that its probably unnecessary. How I feel at the moment is that even though Im pregnant, Maggie is very much number one, will that change when this one comes along?

BTW!! PS I love you is on tonight............have some tissues ready if youre watching it and havent seen it before, watched it last time I was pg and absolutely sobbed lol

Morning everyone. Well I am finally going to pack my hospital bag today and I am so confused as to what I am supposed to be putting in it. In my MW notes there is a wee bit that says what you should put it and it mentions a maternity bra?? I have worn my own bras throughout my pregnancy and wondered do I need to get one or will my normal bras be ok? Also as I will not be breast feeding do I need to take in formula, bottles and a steriliser? Very confused.
Also does anyone know where the hospital checklist that was posted is? I cant seem to find it.

    Thanks,
    Sharkeybabe
Best to check with your hospital Sharkey. If bottle feeding my hospital requires us to bring your own formula but they provide the bottles. If breastfeeding then we need to bring nothing, but if for whatever reason you can't breastfeed then they will supply formula and bottles.

Yes normal bras will be fine.

    I have 3 bags:

Labour bag (just a big sainsburys reususable bag) with:
    Maternity Notes
    Flip flops
    Baggy nightie
Old bikini top and old towel (hopefully having water birth)
    Dressing gown
TENS (actually this is in my handbag now as I'm paranoid about needing it if I'm at my parents)
    MP3 Player, speakers and batteries
    Puzzle book and pen
    Fan
    Apple juice
    Energy drink
    Cereal bars/Chocolate
A few maternity pads and big knickers
    Hairband

    Baby Changing bag:
    Baby clothes
    Nappies
    Cotton wool
    Wipes

    Ward bag:
Small suitcase (size that you can take on a plane)
    Change of clothes
    PJs
    More big knickers
    More maternity pads
    Breastpads
    Toiletries
More baby clothes (just in case)
Big sign saying to remember the last few things that need to be packed (camera, hairbrush etc)

I think I ended up with 5 nursing bras in the end. Still works out a lot cheaper than formula feeding! The washing machine is on more often when you have a baby so I didn't need more than that to always have some clean.

I've not tried the washable pads, will investigate. I just used Tesco own brand & they were fine. I always needed them at night (so washables would have been fine at least for then) but unless DS was having a growth spurt, so feeding more often, I didn't need them during the day after the first month or so. I did like using them though 'just in case'.
Thanks, yeah breastfeeding has got to be cheaper surely... I've had people point out to me "but you have to buy nursing bras and pads", but I couldn't see that costing more than formula over the year. So far I've spent £10 of my own money on nursing bras (got an unexpected gift card for M&S for xmas, so used that).

  • Thanks Giz - really appreciate you sharing your list with me. Yours is roughly the same as mine, so hopefully I am on the right track. There is a 24 hour Asda next to the hospital so if I have forgotten anything I am sure that DH can pop out and get it for me, that is if I remember to bring him with me lol. :)
Going to go and phone the ward now and find our about the bottles etc, coz it will be just my luck if I dont take them I will need them and if I do take them then I wont.lol.

    Thanks again

Well, I must say I like weekend posting and think that's what I'm going to do in future. I can't keep up during the week as there's too many to read and do a full time job, make a baby etc.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend. I'm have a cleaning day today (first in forever it feels) and even gonna try and shampoo the carpets after one is covered it sooty carp from the boiler-gate incident.

Laters ladies bumps, enjoy your sunday roasts, washing, tantruming toddlers etc.

Due march, I worried a lot about not loving my second. Once he was born I didn't connect quite as quick as DD, it took a few weeks. But you do love them the same, it just happens. They are both so different so they bring out different feelings in me.
I was wondering if I'd feel the same with 3, but I know I will just fall in love.
Sometimes I find myself favouring DS as he is cute and hilarious. But then I can have some fantastic conversations and cuddles with DD.

I'm not sure if that explains anything lol.
My answer is yes, you will have enough love for 2, 3 or the 4th.

what channel and time?? I have yet to see it and would like to.

Only coming on quickly to say hello and maybe ill post later as have a lot on today.

we were sorting out the bathroom - taking off the tiles in the plan to put in new tiles and omg what a surprise.......

oh has pulled off the tiles and realised that perhaps the boiler used to be up in the loft and run through the corner so in the corner when theyve (previous owner) taken it out theyve replaced the wall with wood and to insulate - Horse hair!!!!! ewwwww obviously wood in the bathroom is a stupid idea as it has completely rotted and the horse hair looks rank oh its just disgusting. anyway now we're going to have to rebuild the whole bloody wall before putting the tiles on.

This is not the first weird find in the house - when we were removing the artex from the kitchen wall the whole wall came down as it was just wood and behind it breeze blocks with carpet and socks!!! shoved in the gaps for insulation.

Im all for DIY'ing but please do it properly. The amount of money we are having to spend to fix this house is unreal......just dread when we move onto the other rooms what nasty surprises lie in wait for us there :(
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

    Morning ladies:D

ow ow ow my (o)y(o) are really painful this morning

Giz my list is just about the same as yours but I have a bag for DH too as he wants to take a spare t shirt, deodrant, wipes and food and drink. He is also in charge of the camera!

Going to Mums later for dinner and we are just going to stay the night as I have the dreaded GTT tomorrow and it will be an early enough start without getting dd up and organised and over to Mums for her to look after.

Think we have finished looking through all the bags in storage so have lots of blankets and sheets to keep us going. DH is in a tidying/getting organsied mood, I keep telling him it's ageees away but once he get's his mind set on something, that's it. He will know doubt be getting my bags packed in the next few weeks LOL!

ETA: DueMarch I was worrying about this too, was just too scared to ask (in case anyone thought I was terrrible for even thinking it, so thank you for bringing it up). MY DD for 3.5years now and although I loved her straight away, the love and bond between us has grown stronger over time and this is why I was worrying about this little one, surely the bond wont be as strong straight away? Or will it?

    Happy Sunday Ladies!

Really suffering with my back at the moment - Im walking around like an old lady! Off to the cinema this afternoon with my little brother & sister to see Tangled - I think Im more excited than them!

Bought a few sleepsuits and things yesterday in Asda (thought it was about time I got something) they are so tiny and makes it seem a lot more real now! I think I have enough size 1 nappies now as friend gave me two more packs yesterday that his baby has grown out of. It's really nice how many people are helping us out with bits and pieces - saving us a fortune!

Hope everyone is well - labour vibes & stay put vibes to those who need them!

    Hiya :j

Couple of things for the hospital bags..... Light dressing gown, socks (weird how your feet get cold in labour) and a couple of straws....

Straws sound stupid but if OH is giving you water/juice its easier with a straw than trying to get sat right to take a drink......

I've also packed OH a pair of shorts too, as he had jeans on last time and he was red hot :D

I wondered about treating DS differently when bump comes along, but as he's 10 I dont think i need to worry, hes very independant and has his own interests now..... He can't wait for the new addition, wants to know why she's not here if she's 'fully cooked!!'

Off to bag my stuff up that i've sold on ebay, hopefully OH can take them to post office tomorrow and get it out of the way....

Hope you all have great Sundays!!!
