    Hello :)

Sorry not been on much, had a mad few days and not likely to get better, congrats to the new parents, love the name Poppy and buffer your little un is v cute!

OH felt the baby move last night :):). He was so excited, so sweet!

Jealous of all your neat bumps, mine is more one bump of flab on top of baby bump, still at least the baby one is nice and round when I lie down :). Hopefully the top one will shrink as I go along.

    Happy Friday everyone :)
  • My bump seems to get bigger at times and smaller at others!

Normally by the end of the day it's pretty bump-a-licious!

My sister had a very small neat bump which in the last few weeks just went crazy and at the very end looked like she was smuggling several bowling balls under her top! :rotfl:

Do bumps get bigger in 2nd and subsequent pregnancies generally?

Hey MV, you sure do look very neat in the picture and I am jealous!!! In a nice kinda way thought!!!

I think that with subsequent pregnancies that your muscles aren't as strong and hence you perhaps might show more. So I am told anyway!!!! But loads of folk are commenting that I am not really looking 23 weeks pregnant (read for that, still fat!!!! lol) but like Ema, when I lie down on my back, it is more definetly a baby bump!!! I love it!!!!

I can feel movement but wondered when OH might be able to feel it externally??? What's "normal"??

Well if you think about it you are only a couple of days ahead of me so that would make sense :) I never realised our EDD's were so close before!

I had lost some weight before getting pregnant but would've liked to have lost a bit more. I do get a little jealous of all these lovely well defined bumps sometimes but I've never been particularly svelte anyway to be honest :o

Once the baby is here and I am given the all clear operation yummy mummy is going to begin in earnest :) I'd definitely like to be at a lower weight when we start trying for the next one so am really going to put in the effort to try and lose the flab once and for all.

Thats what I read - it's due to the muscles already being stretched and looser so it doesn't take them as long to start growing in subsequent pregnancies as it does with your first.

I think the average time is about 24 / 25 weeks. I'm desperate for OH to start feeling the movements now but we've tried and he still can't feel them :( I'm hoping in a couple of weeks they will be stronger and easier for him to feel - I can't wait for the first time it happens :D

It also depends if you have an anterior placenta or a posterior one - with an anterior, there's more cushioning between your tummy and the baby so it won't be as obvious as early.

Going to visit a 3 day old baby girl tomorrow - can't wait for cuddles although I know I'll be really jealous!

Nice bumps MV & Fairy, my muscles are just shot to peices thats why I look so big :o

    thank you Sarahangel -
Will let you know what size they think baby is on Monday! was your DD a big one?

Thanks Sarahangel, no treatment for me but they told me to give up work and get as much bed rest as poss. Did you have any treatment? My first was taken out 33 weeks as the blood flow actually stopped through the placenta. At what stage of pregnancy did they detect IUGR with you?
    xx

I'll answer both these questions together.
They never picked up on the IUGR with my first 2 pregnancies and unfortunately I lost both of them, first one at 28+4 (he was 24 week size) and then again it was found at my 20 week scan that I lost my second (he was 16 week size). Only after this I was investigated but I had to fight to get it done because I had only lost 2!
Anyway, it was found that while I'm pregnant I suffer from Factor 5 Leiden and was told to take aspirin in my next pregnancy which I did and I had my DD at 38 weeks weighing 6lb 3.5oz's but the blood flow was always described as "sluggish" and was on bed rest from 34 weeks with constant trips too and from the hospital to keep an eye on the blood flow with a view to evict if things got any worse.

I lost a fourth pregnancy at 10 weeks as that one wasn't thriving so this time the plan was for me to go on Clexane (anticoagulant) and aspirin from positive preg test until 6 weeks after birth and with very close monitoring and so far the plan seems to be working.

I'm sure Lwcus, they are monitoring you very closely. Fingers crossed your blood continues to flow through your placenta for a while longer yet.

Sorry if my post has upset or scared anyone, this wasn't my intention at all.

coops I only really began to feel much movement wise at around 28 weeks. I worried about it a fair bit, and at one point the hospital even hooked me up to a fetal monitor to check on babies heartbeat. It all looked ok, but I couldn't feel any of the movements that were being tracked!

I think my placenta position cushioned some of the movement for a long time (anterior) too.

Having said that, now I can feel much stronger movements that not only can OH feel, he can see as well!! Baby is actually moving about loads at this very moment! :D

I'm sure both you and your OH will be able to feel more in the next few weeks :)

    Afternoon ladies

Some fab bump pictures on here today!:D

    Beautiful wee boy Bufger!

Well DH came back last night from A & E on crutches, is it bad that I burst out laughing when I seen him LOL!! He has been given some antibiotics so that should help.

Feeling better today again, it's funny how some days your sick and not others! I was dreaming last night that I got the same midwife that I had with DD. I think I said something along the lines like "oh no not you again!" She was an ok midwife but not all that pleasant really.

Well that's my news for today, away to pick DH up from work as he finishes early on a Friday and he can't drive. Catch you all later. xx
