  • Thank you princess.

I have the MW coming over tomorrow so I shall speak to her then. OH has to literally help me latch him on, and often Josh just screams and gets himself into a fury and I'm left feeling upset and useless :(

Been using the Medela breast pump to express, and hardly getting anything, particularly from the right breast which is so swollen.

I do want him to get the best nutrition, but I don't want me to be dreading feeding him everytine which I am at the moment.

OH is going out to get a few things..I'm nervous being on my own with the baby
    :o

I'm not going to lie the first 4-6 weeks can be trying you'll have good days okay days and terrible ones filled with frustration I know from experience. But then you'll turn a corner and you, baby, and boobs will all know what they are doing and you'll all be doing it without thinking. I nearly jacked it in so many times in the first few weeks but I was so glad I didn't cause when it starts running smoothly it's magic.
I don't want to pressurise you though and there is no shame in giving it a good try and realising it's not for you.

At the stage you are at, I was really struggling with breastfeeding. I was very sore and because all the information tells you it doesn't hurt if you're doing it correctly I was convinced I mustn't be doing it right. I hated feeding because I was so sore. The soreness did gradually go but I'd say for about the first month it always hurt at the beginning of a feed and it wasn't until two months that I felt like I could continue indefinitely. Perhaps you could set yourself a short term target such as BF for the next week and then review it? I told myself I could stop at four months (chosen arbitrarily because that's the earliest you can start weaning) but ended up doing it for nearly three years. I also used to express and my husband did a bottle every night at 10pm which I found helped by giving me a break from it every day.

Thanks for noticing I wasn't around. My hyperemesis got really bad and I ended up being in hospital over Christmas (although I probably would have been out by Christmas Day if it wasn't for hospital incompetence). I'm well enough to get up a little bit now and pop on the computer and just about managing to eat and drink enough which is good.

Poor you :( Have they got you on tablets? I was wary about medication, but once I started taking them I got some of my life back, which was wonderful.

Not got much more to add MV regarding bf'ing hun but good on you for giving it a go :T Like the others said it does get easier once your body knows what it is doing.

There was many a time I was in tears either because my nips hurt so badly (lasinoh was my saviour) or because they became so engorged that DD couldn't latch on (I used to just have to squeeze some out into a muslin or something so she could get on properly), or because all she seemed to do was feed. The first few weeks she would feed for 3 hours solid from 7pm -11pm I used to be just about round the bend.

It is also very rewarding when it goes right but only you know what feels right for you.

Have just shown DD your picture of Joshua she was cooing all over him and just had to give him a kiss LOL!

My target was 6 months with a maximum of a year. I ended up doing it for 2 years and 6 weeks (last 5 months was just 10 mins before bed though) when suddenly DD said "Noooooooooooo I don' wan boob!"
I was getting worried she'd be coming home from school asking for it:eek:

Congratulation MV - he looks lovely :D Good luck with the bf, I got off to a great start with the feeding but was rushed into hospital last week-end with mastitis, had an abcess which I had to get drained and a temperature of 40.4C!! I was kept in for two nights on iv antibiotics and pain relief and took Callum in with me and continued to feed - the pain was intense (I had to have morphine initially) but we got there - the swelling is going down every day (my right side was about 1.5 times the size of the left) and the pain is subsiding. We sometimes have difficulty getting latched on that side with much frustration, but I am expressing off that side to help. And I am pleased to say we are making progress and I have not had to give anything other than my milk, and I feel that it has been worth every minute and the pain - I love bf, the closeness and bonding. Hope things improve for you too :)

I've got my growth scan tomorrow morning too, still not sure why it's needed but i'm looking at it as another opportunity to have a peek at bubs - still determined to remain Team Yellow

Let's see if I can remember everything I wanted to say! :p

MV, congrats and baby Joshua is gorgeous. Hope you get the b/fing sorted x.

    Digital, thanks and have confirmed.

Nic, hope you find some peace and stability in your situation soon, must be so hard x.

Susan, glad things are getting a bit better.

I got an email back from M&S about the cot. They said it isn't adjustable, but tbh I have the feeling that they either didn't understand the question or are just wrong! I went and had a look at some of the other cots they do. One has a 3 point base and has two sets of holes visible in the frame, the Marie has one set of holes in the frame, so I'm sure it can be adjusted. Will have to wait until it's delivered to see. Apparently it's arriving on the 2nd. :)

Ooh and about the Asda Baby Club, I clicked on the link to register or change details (I'm already registered), changed a couple of things and it gave me another voucher at the end. :T

    ETA - I knew I wouldn't remember everything.

BBM, how did the scan go, had everything crossed for you.

Dusty, sounds like complete rubbish and I can't see the union standing for it. Try not to let it upset you too much. YOU know you've done nothing wrong and that's what matters x.

  • I am really happy & relieved to be able to say everything was looking perfect at the 20 week scan today :) The sonographer was taken a back by just how good a kick the baby has as she felt it a few times push the thing of my tummy LOL We are having another boy!!! :) So very happy that we have made it this far & all is looking good :)
