Okay, I'd planned to do the hospital and baby bags next week when I start ML, then someone yesterday (forget who, sorry) mentioned quite casually that at this point in pg "anything could happen"...
So (:p I know, another paranoid first timer worry :p), when we go to Paris for the weekend on 27th, should I pack some emergency supplies with me just in case, or is that just ridiculous? Travel insurance people have made it clear that barring complications they would could it as normal labour and not cover any time in hospital/cancellations/etc. That wouldn't bother me except for the mention of "normal" at 32 weeks...

Feel free to tell me I'm being neurotic ladies... :D

Your OH sounds like a cheeky one!

I would just make sure you have your maternity notes with you in case anything happens while you're away - I was told to take mine with me every time I left Manchester :) Have a lovely time!

Just read on the Grabbit section that some of the things might not be available instore anyway so am verging on just putting in an internet order for some stuff.

Although I must admit I was looking forward to seeing what baby clothes they have in the Sainsbury's TU range while I was there so maybe I might risk it :p I suppose I could order anything that I couldn't get online afterwards.
I don't see why not as aren't the home shops done from instore anyway?

I'm going after work now (hips hurt too much to walk). I also want to look at the clothes. Still need some vests/grows for the first week.

@ticklepenny - I already have cotbed blankets, but won't they be too big for a moses basket? Would need folding too many times, no?

Giz- I was going to say that too. The online shops are done from the shelves instore at your local "big" supermarket.
I can't decide whether it's best to go first thing Sat am before the crowds hit, or Monday mid-morning when they've hopefully restocked the shelves following the weekend. Can't go before Saturday.

Lilian- Notes! That's a good point, hadn't even thought of them... Sure I would have done though...

Can I be added to the list next time it is updated? I was on here just over a year ago when I had my little boy who was born in November last year. I am now expecting another baby on 21st May 2011. So my hands will be full!! I am currently living in Germany and will be having the baby out here. (eek)

Morning all. I got stuff in the last Sainsbury's half price baby toiletry sale and everything seemed to be in stock the whole week.

    Congrats Bufger - big baby!

I had my last hospital appointment today and was given a date for induction, 24th November. Apparently I'm 1cm dilated and the baby is about 8 lb (with a margin of error of 1 lb either side).

Drives me insane and such a waste as they dry out.

Can I join in on the OH bashing? Mine always starts a meal then never finishes it, always puts it in the microwave to eat later....BUT NEVER DOES, hence me cleaning it away EVERY MORNING......frustrates the hell out of me.

Very happy to report that baby is growing really well and now they estimate him being just shy of 3lb at 28+4 which is really encouraging.
So all round happy, happy, happy :j:j:j

    Great news Sarah....:j

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd say hello! I'm still a long way off meeting flump (Flump's only 7 weeks tomorrow) but I thought I'd get in on these baby offers/deals early anyway!

Welcome Pixiepops, we love a bargain on here

Pillowcases would be fine on a moses basket - or a cot sheet, I'd just tuck the extra underneath the mattress. It's a great suggestion to put a muslin under baby's head too, any saving on the washing, and on the messing about in the middle of the night with sicky sheets goes down well with me, and I could have kissed the person who suggested it to me with DS.

The other thing I found good with a moses basket was putting a folded blanket (a big, thick, wool one, not a baby blanket) under the mattress. It gave a bit more insulation, so DS (winter baby) needed fewer layers, and it also raised the mattress up a bit, which meant the basket was a bit wider where he was lying, so it lasted us a few more weeks than it would have done otherwise.

I don't use the calculators i use the tables

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/wtc1.pdf

page 9 has the combined table

work out 1 years income from when the baby arrives luckily you are due almost the exact start of the tax year so it's easy. Add yours and OH's together if on SMP take off £100 per week for you.

Thanks Princess, looks like we only qualify for CTC, not a bad thing, at least it;s something and if GFH's advice is right then that should be enough

FINALLY baby Ethan James arrived on 17th November 2010 weighing in a massive 9lb on pretty much just gas and air! Mother and Baby are doing fine.

Sorry i havent given an update in so long, everything is just manic at the moment. Love you all :D

EDIT: suppose i should put the proper time and weight on so the list can be updated. Born at 6.48pm weighing in at 9lb 1oz.

I disagree with a lot of things he does, and this is the last straw.

he sounds like a t0sser, can you swap a shift? i wouldn't throw a sickie as you have already asked for the day off. Not sure what to suggest but hope you get something sorted, and ((HUGS)) for the loss of your friends..xx

ISo I feel abandoned! Might go to the drop in centre just to check the heartbeat at 31 weeks perhaps.

I now have a baby shower plan - 8th Jan, 20 days before my due date. Should be fun - no silly games or anything, just some nice food and a few baby-related films (including Labyrinth!).
    .

eek - you have reminded me I still haven't been for my flu jab. And I'm sat here off work today with a cold. :o

    Sorry just reposting:

    * Is there any reason why I couldn't use a pillow case for covering the moses basket mattress?
    * How many moses basket/pram sized blankets do I need? Am going to use tesco double up. They are 3 for 2 at the moment. So 6 blankets would be about £10 of clubcard vouchers. That'd leave me with £10 (=£20) to buy some vests/sleepsuits.
    .

I'm getting 2 of each, 2 x pram, 2 x cot, 2 x moses. i figured the wahing machine will be on that much that should be enough. I never though of tesco, I'll have a look now.

Well i'm sat here feeling very sorry for myself, full of a cold and so have taken the day off work. I'm shattered too but i'm being naughty and nipping out to sainsburys later to grab some bargains. our cleaner comes at 3pm on a thursday and I hate being here when she is in so I'm using the time to get out of the house and to sainsburys. There were also some baby clothes half price when I went the other day so might have a look at them too. would really help if we knew the sex, must be strong and not tempted to find out.

Bit of a relief last night with money stuff, have worked out we have saved about £600 in the joint account for baby stuff without even realising it, we only opened it a couple of months ago and both put a couple of hundred in then and have been adding, that will more than cover our buys we still need to make and family are still offering to get us bits and bobs, might even be enough left for a sparkly outfit for xmas for myself :)

have lent a friend my CBFM and went to see her last night, she said she peaked on sat nigth so was sat watching x factor with a pillow under her bum - ah those were the days ;0

Ooh, BIG NEWS - OH felt the baby move for the first time this morning, we were in bed an I could feel it so I put his hand on the bump not for a second thinking he'd feel anything and he did - was very exciting, more for me than him I think as he rolled over and went to sleep.
