Its the cereal here, he doesn't scrunch down the plastic bag inside the box and leaves the box open. So i get soft cereal :(

Actually he doesn't do it much now as i always moaned at him :D

I bought some plastic clips from Ikea, you can get a big bag of them, and we use these to close our cereal - helpful since we think we might have mice now! Could you get some of these so that he has to take it off to get his cereal out - might make him then put it back on?!

Morning all. I've been a bit worried as haven't felt peanut move much since my flu jab but this morning he's active again so I feel better now. I don't have another MW appointment until 7th December which is four weeks after my last one (should be 3 weeks at my stage - 28 weeks then 31 weeks) but because I have my placenta scan at 32 weeks they've said to just have my MW appointment then. So I feel abandoned! Might go to the drop in centre just to check the heartbeat at 31 weeks perhaps.

I now have a baby shower plan - 8th Jan, 20 days before my due date. Should be fun - no silly games or anything, just some nice food and a few baby-related films (including Labyrinth!).

A friend had her baby yesterday, it was her first and she was 2 days early, she was 'bored of being pregnant' the afternoon before and gave birth at 6.30am the next morning - hoping for luck like that myself!

Nic - I nearly placed an order to get the sheep changing bag, glad I didn't now. Will post on your Facebook discussion soon.

    Bufger - congratulations!

    Hope everyone's ok.

    Sorry just reposting:

    * Is there any reason why I couldn't use a pillow case for covering the moses basket mattress?
    * How many moses basket/pram sized blankets do I need? Am going to use tesco double up. They are 3 for 2 at the moment. So 6 blankets would be about £10 of clubcard vouchers. That'd leave me with £10 (=£20) to buy some vests/sleepsuits.

Fairy - no I don't know about sainsburys. I wouldn't have thought the shelves would be empty. But you might find one or 2 things you wanted sold out.

We have a small sainsburys in the town I work, so I might go at lunch today. Not sure how much of the stuff they'll have. If not I'll have to make a special trip to a bigger one as I think the sale is worthwhile.

Giz I don't see why you can't use a pillow case as long as the open end is at the bottom, you could maybe sow on a couple of buttons to keep it closed. Both my wee ones were out of the Moses basket/crib after a couple of months, they were too long for them. They wouldn't be moving that much to undo it. Mind you mine both loved being swaddled so they didn't move at all.

As for pram sheets etc I had 3 of each (Moses and pram) that way I had 2 clean and time to wash the other. I also used a muslin folded across where the babies head was, it caught most of the dribbles and sick, so the blanket stayed cleaner for longer.

Just read on the Grabbit section that some of the things might not be available instore anyway so am verging on just putting in an internet order for some stuff.

Although I must admit I was looking forward to seeing what baby clothes they have in the Sainsbury's TU range while I was there so maybe I might risk it :p I suppose I could order anything that I couldn't get online afterwards.

Popping out of Lurkdom to tell you ladies that the sleepsuits from Sainsbury's wash really well and they've got some beautiful girls ones in at the moment for anyone on team pink :) Haven't had cause to check the boys ones out though! They're not included in the baby sale but keep an eye out for the next time there's 25% off :)

Also the day clothes wear and wash well to but our Sainsburys has a rubbish small clothes section!

DD had a moses basket and I just used pillow cases as mattress covers. They worked fine.

I didnt bother with moses basket/pram blankets and just used normal sized fleeces. But thats just me :D

    Congrats Bufger.

I need some help ladies, feeling very low. I have 2 funerals that i'd like to attend next week, both were friends of the family and one of them i've known for the last 27 years. My boss has approved me having the day off for one of the funerals, but someone else i work wth wants to go and was closer to the other person than i was. She was initially refused the time off, but he has backed down and is letting both of us go, but not allowing me to go to the one thats most important to me despite me offering to take it as unpaid.
I disagree with a lot of things he does, and this is the last straw. I only work 6.5 hours a week but do a lot of voluntary running events and fairs (its in a school) meaning i spend a lot of time there. I feel like quitting, but don't want it to jeaopardise my mat allowance (won't get smp).
Am i right in thinking that as long as i've work 26 of the 66 weeks up to baby's due date that i will still qualify for it?

You would qualify for Maternity Allowance (MA) not SMP and get 39 weeks (9 months) at just under £125 or 90% of your average pay whichever is lower, which is paid by the job centre.
Please check this out yourself though before making any decisions.

I actually think the more I moan the worse mine gets, could be worse though I could be married to poor ASHeta's BIL I guess.

Cue stupid remark off OH "Well I'm not planning on having an accident" Tut! I didn't even bother replying to that one!

OH tried this one on the woman in Halfords that was showing him how to fit the car seat on Sunday. The scathing look she gave him was a classic and he looked suitably shamed! He then tried to wind her up with "no one in Albania uses car seats and the children are all fine- the police can't tell me what to do with my own baby". She nearly had a heart attack- I guess if you don't know him you wouldn't know it was him being cheeky.

Okay, I'd planned to do the hospital and baby bags next week when I start ML, then someone yesterday (forget who, sorry) mentioned quite casually that at this point in pg "anything could happen"...
So (:p I know, another paranoid first timer worry :p), when we go to Paris for the weekend on 27th, should I pack some emergency supplies with me just in case, or is that just ridiculous? Travel insurance people have made it clear that barring complications they would could it as normal labour and not cover any time in hospital/cancellations/etc. That wouldn't bother me except for the mention of "normal" at 32 weeks...

Feel free to tell me I'm being neurotic ladies... :D
