Morning ladies and bumps! Hope all is well, I need to start checking in more frequently, I can never seem to keep up with everything that's happening!

Well this past week my back has decided to start giving me excruciating pain, no matter what I'm doing I have a dull ache constantly. I have a new back support for my chair at work which has helped and I'm not sitting down for long periods of time, I keep going for a wander but I'm still in agony! It hurts when I'm in bed, it hurts when I'm sat on the sofa and nothing seems to remedy it! I mentioned it to my midwife on monday and she advised that I take paracetamol and use a hot water bottle (all of which I'm already doing) but kind of just went "well you're pregnant, it happens, deal with it". I don't know what I was expecting, a miracle cure perhaps?! I know, I know, I'm just whinging but it's really starting to get me down. Oh well only another 10 weeks or so to go...

Anyway, on the bright side I have this afternoon off work- yay! But I have to go and meet the up with the in laws (not their biggest fans)-boo!

Well OH took over dog situation last night , he let her start off under the covers next to him and everytime she tried to crawl over into my boobs she got in trouble from him. So I had a great nights sleep but OH and dog were very sleepy this morning.I'm 16 weeks on Monday and I dont have much of a bump , just a wee pot belly that hardens first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It feels tight when it hardens. I honestly thought when you got pregnant you didnt really feel your bump but even with a tiny bump I can feel it stretching. So Im not bothered if I dont et a huge one.Had my mum on the phone last night shes already bought 158 newborn nappies and is planning on starting buying the next size in the ASDA baby event. Talk about being organised. Question for you very intelligent ladies , how many bottles do you need if you plan to bottle feed baby?Hope MV has a nice quick painfree labour xx
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!
Gorgeous baby boy born 7/7/11 :D
  • Hi Ladies and Bumps,

Need a bit of advice. My due date is tomorrow and I think things may be underway. I have had period type pains most of the night but no real contractions. I have woken up this morning and just feel really sick and still pains are there but nothing regular. My Mum lives 5 hours away and will be on the train as soon as I let her know but just not really sure if I need to call her just yet.

So scared and still don't feel ready!!

Hope all is well MV and all other ladies.

    Thanks

    Morning LL

Can't claim to be intelligent I'm afraid :o but did end up bottlefeeding both of mine after failed breastfeeding attempts - I had the Avent starter kit which I think has a couple of the smaller 3oz bottles in and a couple of the bigger 7oz (will have to check) and this was fine till they got a bit bigger and then I think I just brought a couple of larger Avent bottles.
Think I had about 6 bottles in all if that's any help.

BTW - think the Avent starter set is half price at Tesco's at the mo if any help to you x

Morning ladies i'm having one of those meh days too

Remember a few months ago I mentioned I was in a pay dispute at work? Our team of 5 is now down to just me as the pthers have left and haven't been replaced as we have a vacancy freeze on here. So i'm doing the work of 5 people for no extra pay. My line manager who is fab submitted a proposal to increase my grade and it was refused as there is no money available. My linemanger has the money in his budget but cos the organisation is in such a financial mess he isn't allowed to spend it, it has to go on the bigger savings.

Anyhoo, I've got the unions involved. My rep sent a great email outlining my case to the head of HR, Head of finance and my line manager yesterday and now it seems like they are all annoyed at me. My linemanger hasn't even said 'good morning' to me yet and normally he is lovely - so that's upset me.

Plus the barney with OH rolls on. In a nutshell, we both put £200 a month into our joint account to cover bills. When I'm on mat leave we've decided he'll put £400 in and I'll put nothing in but will continue to cover the food shop and obviously any baby costs.

I said as I have no idea how much a baby costs or how much mat pay I'll get, would he be able to put aside a couple of hundred now that I can use during my mat leave if needed for baby stuff. (I simply don't have that extra cash to build a nest egg). This way it saves me going to ask him for money (which I know will cause arguements as we do argue about money).
this couple of hundred is more of a safety net for me so that the pressure is off me if I cannot afford everything on my mat pay. I only intend to use it if I absoloutely need to.

Anyway, caused a huge row cos he thinks I'm trying to fleece him at every turn (he earns a LOT more than me and I am in a LOT of debt).

I know most people just have all the money coming in in one pot for everything but tbh, I wouldn't trust myself with full access to his salary :o.

This arrangement has worked for us upto now but I'm so panicked about what happens when I'm on mat leave.

I cannot talk to him about money as he always thinks I'm fiddling him.

Soooo, I've decided to write him a letter setting it all out as we honeslty cannot talk about it.

Wow - major angst post - apologies :(
  • PB from what I can tell in previous discussions and through antenatal is the period pains are probably you getting ready. I would give your mum a call and let her know that you think things are starting so that she can get to you in plenty of time as if the news stories about public transport are true over there then she needs ot have plenty of time to travel and not be worrying about you....plus once your contractions start coming closer you will want someone with you....have you got a friend nearby that you can call upon before your mum arrives if need be.....ooooooo exciting hehe I am here for this one :P hehe I soooo hope you are getting your mummy cuddles soon but definitely give your muma call now so she has plenty of time

    Hello BP

Can you call the hospital or your midwife for advice?
I've had 2 children but both of mine were planned CS so I can't give any advice on natural labour - hopefully somebody will be able to reassure you soon x
  • Hugs Dusty, not long to go until you are on your maternity and your boss might be having a bad day is all.....

I don't have a joint account with hubby either but we split the bills down the middle and it has been me that has been saving for bubs coming along :S A letter might be the way to go if he won't listen and it turns into an argument every time.......I am quite lucky as hubby is carp with money so even though we don't have a joint account I am constantly on top of his spending etc I don't think that £200 is a lot to ask for just to be sure that you are on top of things, I found a thing online one night when I was noseying about how much a baby can cost, if you want I can have another look at that and you can print it off and give it to OH just to get your point across......I hope things go better for you the rest of today
