babyboysmommy wrote: »I'm so excited! The baby is quite a little wriggler. This morning I was lying in bed & could feel it moving away so put my hand on my 'bump' & the baby kicked me...twice! So excited to feel it from the outside especially as I'm only 18+1 weeks
I am very slim which I guess makes a difference. DH was already in the shower so he missed it but whilst I could still feel it moving inside it was just those 2 precious kicks I felt on the outside. I dread to think what I'm in for as it gets bigger if it already has a good kick on it LOL
It's a great feeling isn't it? I sat with the remote control on my bump last night and it was moving up and down like mad. DD and Oh thought it was fab. Glad it's all going well after your initial worries.
Teenie, is the carpet loose on your stairs? If you think their unsafe I'd definently mention it to LL. You don't want to fall down them carrying a baby. I remember tripping over my slippers caryying a newborn ds. I had carpet burns all up my arm trying to protect him.
Im feeling a bit more positive today. Got all the Xmas decs down yesterday which is always sad. But feel a bit more like normal now. I've been reading the OS threads a lot and made me feel more positive about money saving and menu planning. It's given me something to keep me busy.
I also ordered my first baby clothes. I got a cute pack of babygrows and gorgeous dungarees in the pumpkin patch sale.
I'm planning on getting the rest from Asda as they are nice and cheap.
There's quite a few ladies not been on, Susan c, coops and cutterby were all posting regularly before Xmas, hope everones ok.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

There are some really cute unisex stuff still in stock. I love the dungareees:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Susan was in hospital because of her sickness so she is just resting now0

Giz - I have been think about when to call OH too, assuming he's a work when things kick off. He's been at home for a month, but started his new job today, so I don't want to be upsetting his boss by calling him home too early.
However, as others have said, most labours take a while to get going (especially first ones) so I would say probably wait until you feel you need his support before calling.
Dusty, I hear superfast isn't good for you (more likely to tear) or baby (more likely to need oxygen).
MV, I can't tell anymore when I need the loo, I have permanent pressure on my bladder, its not UTI symptoms but our babies! And (as I understand it) there's no correlation between stronger/more BH and real contractions happening. Do you feel ready to go? I want to make my EDD, I still have things to do yet!We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

My friend had her first seven weeks ago - 2 days early and a 6 hour labour. She's been on the RLT so it's given me hope! But yes, not toooo quick as I don't want to tear!
I had a question about perineal massage (did it again last night, it wasn't as bad as the first time) - surely loosening this muscle is doing the opposite to pelvic floors? Or are they different muscles? My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Hi all grumble alert
Why oh why did I move into a half made house?! there is sooo much that needs doing (prefferably before baby comes) but its all stuff I cannot do which means oh needs to do it and a lot we cant do while lo is here which means waiting for the weekends that he goes to his dads (only 3 more until the new baby is due)I have this really bad nesting urge going on but the things I want doing I either cant do or cant afford to do
arghhhhhhhhhh!!
Im dreading what the midwives will think when they do the home birth in my construction site of a house - yes we have walls missing at every turn and no kitchen units but I promise we are good people!! *sigh*
Just needed to have a rant. Going to get a cup of tea and hopefully I will feel less depressedI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I'm the same Giz. OH works nights and doesn't drive so has to get two buses home (although I think he'll get a cab when the time comes) so I don't want to call him out too early.
My mum lives around the corner so I'll have her round to hold my hand in the early part and then when it's time to go into hospital I will give OH a shout to meet us there (if he isn't already at home)
His brother also lives round the corner and will be taking us to hospital.
I think that's the plan. In an ideal world I'll manage with my mum to the very last minute cos his boss is already being a bit funny about him taking paternity leave so I don't want him coming out for no reason.0 -

The pelvic floor muscles are much higher up, my yoga teacher says for labour its more important that you practice relaxing this muscle, the tightening is much more for afterwards to prevent incontinence. With perinneal you should be stretching the skin and tissue to help it become more flexible for crowning. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

Pelvic floor basically helps tighten up all of the areas downstairs. However the most important point of pelvic floor is being able to control the flow of wee! Any stretching you do with perineal massage just means that the skin is able to stretch more easily. However it shouldnt leave you saggy, so can be done in conjunction with pelvic floor without you ending up trying to ice skate uphillIYKWIM.

Hey everyone.
Well, looks like I'm finally getting over this virus/cold/flu thing. Have even got dressed today, so that's something.
Hope everyone is well and congrats on the new babies and welcome to the new recruits.
This is my bump pic from Christmas day when I was 16+6 -
Can't believe I'm now 18+2. Am feeling the odd kick and movement, quite often after I cough funnily enough. From reading the last scan report I have an anterior placenta so I'm surprised I'm feeling that tbh, but I'm sure I started feeling her 2 weeks ago...
Hope everyone is well. Mummy to an amazing little girl0
