  • Thanks for your hugs and good wishes re OH's Grandad. Just waiting to hear if he needs a full post mortem due to him not seeing a doctor recently but he was 83 and it seemed that he died peacefully in his sleep which has brought some comfort to the family at least.

Hello - all I have to say today is....perineal massage REALLY F**KING HURTS.

    That is all.

I tried it the other night and decided it hurt too much! Then I read that it might not be useful in second/third labours as it's supposed to have stretched and become "baggy" the first time round so I don't know if I will get any benefit really.

  • Hello. Feeling even worse than I did this morning. I am now burning up and my head is killing me. Is there anything else apart from paracetemol that I could take??? I'm starting to panic now becoz I am in agony all over and I havent felt bubs move all day. I know I am probs over reacting but I feel like I am dying.

  • Yes the perineal massage doesn't do much for me either. I had OH do it a few times for me as I just wouldn't be able to manage it myself, but haven't done it for a week or so.

I'm going to get OH to give it another go this evening..god knows if it is doing any good!

Sharkey - maybe you should give your MW a call tomorrow if you are feeling that bad? Have you had the flu jab? you may be prescribed some antibiotics if you have an infection.

Still no word from Twoflower?? I hope she's ok, and wonder if she has had her baby yet??

    I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I really can't believe it...!

((HUGS)) sorry your feeling so rubbish. I was a little naughty and had a couple of lemsips before bed when I wasn't feeling well. I'd asked the chemist and he said a couple wouldn't do much harm. I figure some women do a lot worse during pregnancy.
You could try taking a big glass of cold water or sugary coke to get the baby moving. He may wake up when you go to sleep.
If your really worried give NHS 24 a ring. They'll probably tell you to keep up the fluids and stay warm but it might give you peace of mind.
    Hope you feel better soon.
Sharkey - I agree - phone NHS direct if only for a bit of peace of mind. There's no way we can advise anything on here apart from make sure you drink loads of fluids, try honey and lemon in hot water, and just paracetomol.

@MV - I can't believe you are 39 weeks either :) My due date is one month today :j

@Icarus (I know your name isn't icarus but it's just too many random letters that I can't remember it :o) - The stabbing pain is normal according to my book. I'm 35 weeks and been reading about it. The baby can be head down and put pressure on nerves.

    @Casper - congratulations :)

I had another productive day. We cleaned both our cars inside and out and installed the car seat and base into my car. I am soooooo glad we got a base as I have a 3 door car and I can now see that getting a baby into the car seat while in the back seat rear facing will be quite difficult.

    Good evening ladies,

Congrats to Beakatron and Casper - fantastic news!

(((Hugs))) Sarah - I'm sorry to hear about OH's Grandad :(

Hello and welcome to the newbies.

MV - How is bubs doing today? I've just read back and seen he's been moving loads - still active today? Exciting stuff. Oh and I have to say - your FB pic - you're huge!!!!!! Obv, in a nice preggers way lol

Sharkey - Sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I swear by hot honey and lemon. The ladies on here told me about it and whenever I get flu-like ro a sore throat - I always take it.

Random tmi question, but does anyone bring up sick? I don't know the official name, but today I've been bringing up sick which is most unpleasant. Not full on vomiting, but it just seems to travel up my throat. Does anyone know what I mean??

And last night I had to get up twice to pee - was most annoyed as I only get up once normally, so I hope it's not going to be a regular thing!

Like bile? Reflux? If it's what I'm getting I thought it was just acid reflux - part of heartburn or something.

@apricot - the perenial massage isn't something you have to do, but it's another thing you can do to help decrease the chances of tearing during labour. Basically you rub KY, or oil (olive oil has been mentioned) in a U shape with your thumb (or get OH to do it). In my book it says to insert thumb an inch inside. I'm probably not explaining it properly. I was told to do this after having 'Fentons' which to you guys is basically an episiotomy to help with intercourse after the cut. I never did though.

Me. I get it. Almost as soon as the MS stopped I got this. :( My advice is to stay upright after eating, and don't eat chillis. They hurt somewhat as they go up and down your throat.
