We had a quiet day at home yesterday, hardly moved from the sofa.... My brother text last night to say my dad had been robbed while he was in the bath, so not a good start to dad's new year!!! I've just spoken to him, police have caught them who's done it, but he can't have his stuff back til after the court case etc..... I've offered him a tv, but he says its his laptop hes more bothered about..... He's not having mine!!!!

Got the tree down this morning and took all the rubbish up to the tip, so house is back to normal now, pity its all over for another year, bit sad really, its flown by!!! But, we all have something to look forward to this year :j

Gonna rest now, done a bit much this morning, might have a nosey round the online sales.....

    Congrats Casper :j

Sorry to hear about your loss Sarah

I'm getting terrible heartburn at the mo. I can feel it coming up, then going back down, then coming back up etc. It was worse when we'd had chilli a couple of weeks ago, as it burned every time it went up or down and went on for about an hour :(

Any relief I can take other than milk (makes me sick) and Gaviscon (ditto)?

Well, having spent most of the past 7 months lying horizontally accross my tummy, sproglet seems to have finally moved. I *think* he's now head down, but I'm not entirely sure if I'm being kicked in the ribs and punched in my ladies bits or t'other way around. Either way it's a trifle uncomfortable at times.

A friend of mine is wanting to meet up in the next few days, but to be honest all I want to do is find a comfortable sitting position (yet to find one) and stay inside. Got to find a tactful way of saying 'No chance' to her. I don't even fancy having visitors to be honest.

Off to sort out some more washing while I'm still a teensy bit mobile, and to try and settle sproglet back to sleep.

Sorry to hear about the heartburn. I have found Rennie soft chews to help, and they taste good too IMO so thats a bonus. I have aniseed flavour Gaviscon which I also like but as you said Gaviscon makes you sick prob not the best plan. So maybe give Rennie a go. Hope you get some relief soon!!

    Hi all,

I'm hoping I can join you. I'm 24 weeks with my first baby and am counting down the days until she's here! I'm a full time student but I worked over summer so I will hopefully be entitled to maternity allowance (thinking the MSE way!)

I've had bad heartburn and found that Rennie soft chews are a godsend! I'm due 21st April.

 thats terrible!!! Homebirths are great (speaking from experience ) The midwifes who do them are not the same as the ones who are on duty in a hospital - the nhs has to ensure they have enough for emergancy, home and hospital births If there isnt enough staff in a labour ward thats because the hospital havent organised it right nothing to do with you - I had three midwifes at home last time - Im sure they didnt leave the hospital unstaffed just for me  .

realistically your doing the most selfless thing - your leaving more space/staff in a hospital for people who need/want it :D

I had a homebirth last time with two m/w, and the midwives encouraged me into it.

I agree with you, and imagine if a business said "we can't do x because we can't recruit" people would just say well make the posts more attractive and you will be able to recruit then.

    She's not too bright.

    Opinions needed please....

DH wants to tell family about the birth by post.

I do think it's nice to have a letter or card about these things, but I think there are some people we need to tell sooner than that. I've put my foot down about parents though. They WILL be told by phone.

Which would you prefer to get as a relative - phone call straight away or shortly after if the birth was at night, or a hand written card?

I'm in two minds about it myself.

Personally I would prefer a phone call... I would feel a bit "last to know" if found out in the post, especially with technology these days!
However I do think a hand written card with a photo to follow this up would be lovely and would mean family can keep it as a memento.

Interested to hear others opinions as everyone is different.
