  • Welcome newbies, and hugs, RBG. My SIL tells me that I am selfish for wanting a homebirth because I am not considering whether they can staff the maternity ward or not (she's a m/w, and a prat)

    casper congratulations!!

    Morning ladies and bumps.

Today OH decided to let me have a lie in so ive only just woke up .... was very impressed to come down and see downstairs tidied and hoovered and lo playing nicely :D

Got to actually get up an go out to the shops today though as need to return a faulty item bought at Christmas and raid boots with my advantage points but really cba. feel much better after my long sleep though.

make-it-three sounds like a fairly good nye :) I was thinking about the Child trust fund yesterday and wondering what I will do for number two as theres no way I can afford to put that much in this year was thinking of saving for a year and then getting another trust fund for new one... have one for ds1 which the voucher went in along with all the money he received when he was born but i dont want ds2 to miss out because of the government.

keith - thats so annoying!!! is it in a pattern perhaps you can pass it off as modern decor? :p

ecoelle - its difficult to know what is right and what isnt I gave up all conflicting food and drink for the first three months (i felt too sick anyway) and then after that I was less worried. Im a big tea drinker and I know I drink more than is reccomended but I feel it is not a massive problem - i dont drink or smoke or anything else and I drank it with lo and he was perfect. So i think you just gotta go with how you feel. research changes every year so as long as your not overdoing things or in a high risk pregnancy I think youll be fine. :)

spaghetti monster and make it three - I understand wanting to be mse but I would advise buying a few 0-3 month clothes. when ds1 wwas born he was 9lb 6oz and very long/tall we had a whole array of clothes that didnt fit lol He didnt fit the up to one month ones with feet because of his length and so he went straight into 0-3's which were very roomy but much better.

 thats terrible!!! Homebirths are great (speaking from experience ) The midwifes who do them are not the same as the ones who are on duty in a hospital - the nhs has to ensure they have enough for emergancy, home and hospital births If there isnt enough staff in a labour ward thats because the hospital havent organised it right nothing to do with you - I had three midwifes at home last time - Im sure they didnt leave the hospital unstaffed just for me  .

realistically your doing the most selfless thing - your leaving more space/staff in a hospital for people who need/want it :D

  • Morning everyone! Hope you are all ok. Unfortunately I posting from bed this morning, feeling truely awful. Had hardly any sleep last night and now every bone in my body hurts, my glands are swollen and my head is thumping. Think this is the worst part of the flu, so have decided to stay in bed all day and feel sorry for myself. I hate being ill if there is no-one to look after me.lol. Im just a child at heart.

Congrats to Casper and welcome to the newbies. xx

  • Congrats Casper - simply gorgeous!

Hugs Sharkey, hope you feel better soon xx

We've had some really sad news here this morning, OH grandad died suddenly in the night. We were quiet close to him so it's become as quite of a shock, we only just spent Christmas Day with him too. He had been complaining of heartburn since Christmas Day and MIL only spoke to him on the phone last night before we left and he seemed fine. It's very sad and upset me quite a lot that he won't meet his great grandson.

I got the boy moving last night before bed and he seems back to his usual movement pattern today too which is good news.

Hope you all have a good Sunday, catch up later xx

Yeah I think they sense it and they just chill out - when I had food poisoning I hardly felt my little dancer but as soon as I was well again he was back to his usual can cans lol

sarah - sorry to hear of your loss at least in a way they got to spend a last christmas as a family.

I am soooo gonna have to get used to getting up before lunchtime....in a week when I'm back at work. :D

Had a lovely 1/1/11. Friends came around for tea...oh yes, I am a domestic goddess! Their kids played on Rockband and Just Dance and bless, they even tidied up after themselves. They also had a new arrival an hour before turning up...6lb 8onz Ava Rose. Cool date of birth!

Today, planning for break away tomorrow. I'm going here - http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/cabins/our_locations/scotland/argyll.aspx Will go easy on the hot tub and am limiting myself to 10 mins max at a time. DH is on about taking pushbikes as we bought a rack last year when we went on a break but it was horrendous snow so didn't end up using it. Will go easy on it though.

Congrats on the new births, welcome to the newbies....time for me to get up!

    Congrats Casper, he's beautiful!

SA-sorry for your sad news. x

I think I'm turning into such a wuss and hypochondriac. A few weeks ago i was complaininng about back pain and period type pain in my back. Now I've been having this sharp shooting pain in my vagina and pelvic area, only lasts a few seconds but it really takes my breath away. It feels as if baby has put foot through my bits but she is head down? Is anyone else getting this pain or now what it is. I'll be 36 weeks tomorro?

Hope you girlies in the flu feel better soon. xxx
