We did both last time..... Called immediate family straight away (they then call the cousins, aunts and uncles etc) then we had already signed up to a birth announcement thing and OH just called them, gave them DS full name, time of birth and weight and everyone then got a telegram..... :j
The telegrams were a nice touch, we had already chosen what we wanted on them, but if I remember right, it took a few days for peeps to get them......

Hi ladies
Congratulations Casperlarue, beautiful boy!
Sorry to hear your sad news SA ((hugs)) x
Welcome salesadmin you are 2 days in front of me and due the same day as iceicebaby, who in fact has been missing for a few days! ((shouts))where are you ice???
Sharkey sorry you are still feeling pantsmaybe it is coming to a head now and will clear soon x
Personally I would prefer a phone call... I would feel a bit "last to know" if found out in the post, especially with technology these days!
.
Yeah I agree with this and you know what it's like, someone will find out/let it slip before they find out from you.
I'm sure there was more to say but I've forgottenFeeling tired as per usual after my Sunday job and been really sick, it' my own fault I was eating crips and dips and my stomach just can't cope with that sort of stuff at the mo. I was drinking fizzy juice too and that came back up all fizzy still :rotfl::osorry that's gross!
Bubs has been VERY active these past few days and I can really tell when he/she is sleeping and awake. I think he must have had the hiccups last night, it was so funny (poor wee thing).
Hope everyone is ok? A lot of you seem to be a bit quiet recently, hope it's just because you are all busy with festivities. x"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

Think it was British Telecom that did it, but it was 10 years ago
Just had a google, there are a few sites offering telegrams, but they look expensive, but if its a normal announcement card you want there are loads of sites with offers....
Its just when you think about Facebook, Twitter etc, everyone will know by the time they get the cards, so I can't help thinking that its a bit of a waste really......Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:

SA, sorry for your loss, how nice though that you all got to spend Christmas together.
Congratulations on your new addition, Casper, and welcome to all the newbies, looking forward to getting to know you all.
I think I'm turning into such a wuss and hypochondriac. A few weeks ago i was complaininng about back pain and period type pain in my back. Now I've been having this sharp shooting pain in my vagina and pelvic area, only lasts a few seconds but it really takes my breath away. It feels as if baby has put foot through my bits but she is head down? Is anyone else getting this pain or now what it is. I'll be 36 weeks tomorro?
Yes, I get that from time to time, and I'm 36 weeks today - I assume she's just having a wriggle and pressing on something tender! Mine is decidedly head down too, and there are very definite movements up by my ribs, and down at the bottom, so I guess they are arms and legs wriggling about. Being pregnant is definitely not comfortable, is it?
I had my home visit today for my home birth, and now have a big box of medical sounding stuff, and some drugs in the fridge. The midwife was lovely, and as long as we make it past next weekend, we are all set for our home birth.0 -

I had my home visit today for my home birth, and now have a big box of medical sounding stuff, and some drugs in the fridge. The midwife was lovely, and as long as we make it past next weekend, we are all set for our home birth.
Blimey, I didn't have any of that, was just told to buy a plastic sheet!
Good luck with it.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
The list has more confirmed blue bumps than pink ones.
Im very bored so started counting0 -
Congrats to all the new arrivals!
I'm four months, and glad to see I'm no longer languishing at the bottom of the list!
Had lots of 'advice' over the hols on what sort of pram to get and looking online was making my head spin. So we went window shopping on New Years Day to give us an idea of what the choices are. I think I'm now set on the Quinny Zapp Xtra, it's really light and small and fits with a MaxiCosi Cabriofix. My reasons are our house is set above the road so I have a lot of steps to cope with plus I have tendonitis and rsi which means my elbow and wrist are liable to tearing when I lug things up and down them, and I don't drive so will be getting around by foot and public transport when OH is at work.
Annoyingly I'm stuck in an inbetween stage, my normal trousers are too tight, so I bought some maternity trousers in the sale which felt sooo comfy (I can sit down in them!) but after walking around for a while they keep falling down, so I've had to borrow one of OH's belts! I'm still more podge than bump I reckon.
Been on a mad reorganising spree - packed away clothes I won't be wearing for a while to create space for all the maternity tops that I got from SIL and friend, and started packing things away from the spare room so we can move stuff from the nursery-to-be into there. Phew! Stomach is a bit sore so reckon I'll take it easy tomorrow.0 -

I was surprised by what's there to be honest - there's all sorts of "just in case" type stuff and sterile packs etc, and some emergency kit as well - I think they plan to show up with oxygen and entonox and that's all, there are gloves and clinical waste bags and everything here. Just need to keep it out of DS's reach, because I'm pretty sure there are needles and things in there.0
