MI3 your DH does have a say but his family do not! The name has got absolutely c0ck all to do with them and if you don't want them staying afterwards then don't let them. Seriously you need to nip this in the bud right now. My MIL tried to interfere with DD to a certain extent but I just wouldn't allow it and our relationship did really suffer, but we are ok now and she will not even attempt to do the same this time . ((hugs)) it is really hard but you need to stick to your guns x

Garnetlady - great news enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

I'm in work again but should finish about 3pm again. We have a buffet and raffle with all the gifts that have been donated over the year. Wonder if I will be lucky this year?


Anyone doing anything nice tonight? It will be a very quiet one for us!!

We were intending to stay in town and watch an early concert by some friends of ours (it finishes at 7.30pm) but we're now finishing work at 2pm and our last train home is at 7.48pm so we wouldn't make it! So - we're going for a New Year's Eve lunch at Tampopo and then going home for party food and an early night! We're so rock and roll...

Hello all, what a hectic week hope you all had lovely christmas times and congrats on all the new babies

welcome to all the new bumps and labour vibes to those who want them.

My nesting instinct is well and truly here dragged oh to ikea for the sales and bought a few good bargains and now keep hassling him to make furniture and move furniture around and from room to room swear hes gonna lock me in a wardrobe soon lol

lo seems to have got enough stuff for christmas to start his own branch of toys r us lmao our house has no storage as it is and now its just a mass of toys some bad ideas - a piano (batteries to be removed soon lol), playdoh - a silly idea from me it seems to have ended up in the carpet lmao, and a pop up ball pit - supposed to be for the garden but of course lo wanted it up inside and now wont let us take it down lol nearly killed myself on a stray ball this morning. For those ladies who are having their first good luck with ever having space for anything of your own lol.

oh the plus side lo loves his bed that we bought him and now that hes in big bed we can put cot up in our room for new one so all has worked out well!!

Well the area I live in tend not to do much for New Years Eve but they all party on New Years day? Maybe a scottish thing? So we are invited to a party 2moro, kicks off around 2pm and will probs carry on all night. Im going to drop OH off and show face for a wee while and then probably go home when they all get drunk. Then on Sunday OH is going out with my dad to watch the football and have a few pints. I was starting to feel left out untill my OH text me and told me when I get home tonight Ive to put glad rags on as we are going out for a meal , yay !!! Really cant wait. Really enjoy eating out at the minute cause I can order anything off the menu ( i normally try and be sensible) and I like getting dressed up and Im not worried about looking fat etc cause I feel really body confident now that Im pregnant

I'm all sorted with my mum as she never goes anywhere lol! So I know it is unlikely she'll make it up the hospital at all even though i'll be in there for 3 days.

It's the OH's family that could be an issue. And not wanting to go into it too much cos I know he doesn't like me talking about it but I just don't get on with them. It's a shame cos i'll never be good enough for them and just accepted that a while back. It created a wedge that now can't be healed. It hurt a lot back then and still does now to a certain degree but i've realised that you can't change people and you have to make your own way in life which is what i've had to do. I don't have to see them at all now which is easier. I don't particularly want them playing an active role in my children's lives but it's not about me and will compromise where I can to ensure everyone is reasonably happy.

It's hard because it has split the family and all I really wanted was one big happy family. But as long as me and mine are happy then that's all that matters.

They haven't really shown an interest in this child yet so I guess I could be worrying over nothing. But will support hubby in whatever decisions he chooses to make with access as bubs is his too.

OMG - i've only just realised... I'm having a SON!!!! They have 2 granddaughters but no grandsons. This is the first! :eek: :eek:

Ooo errr. I don't know if they know yet either. Buggar. Not sure if that changes things.

Well Im back from the doctors and I dont have Swine Flu (stupid relatives scaring the bejesus out of me) Instead I have really bad flu. The doctor wont give me anything for it apart from a nasal spray and has just told me to rest!!
Wish my nesting period would kick in because my house is a bombsite - wouldnt be like this if DH was at home, but ive really let things slide since he went away and I just cannot be bothered doing anything.

Will be having a quiet night here tonight, cant stand New Year, then will have to drag myself down to MIL's to make her New Years Dinner - cant believe I got myself roped into this and now I cant back out, really cant be bothered. Plus no bad against her but she tells me the same stories over and over again and I am completely exhausted by the time I leave her house. Any good excuses to get out of it would be good!! lol

Sharkey - glad all is well! Do they test you then and there at the docs then? I was umming and aaahhing about whether to go myself to be honest.

Charlie - no she never tested me but I had my Flu/Swine flu jab back in September so she said that it would be very rare if I had contracted it, plus what she said was that with my symptoms it was more than likely just to be flu. Dont exactly know how she knows this but I suppose we just have to trust the docs.lol. If you arent feeling well you should try and make an appointment, I got one straight away this morning the minute I mentioned Swine flu and pregnant and I amazingly I got one straight away. The docs are shut here until next wednesday so I wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks hun. I think i'll give them a ring as you're right when you say it's best to be safe than sorry! Just a lot of hassle for what seems like normal flu!
