Our doctor isn't mentioning flu jabs to pregnant women but you are entitled to one. My Mrs had hers last week and she felt like crap for 24 hours but was fine afterwards.0

Congratulations slightlymad and anm.
Up on the hospital ward and can't stop gazing at my son with a stupid smile on my face! However bad your pregnancy is, it is so worth it at the end! And now thinking back, I know I was fed up of being pregnant but can't really remember what was so bad about it. I can remember how painful pushing his head out was but as my husband says, it will be easier next time!
Giz - I did have the injection for the placenta straight away and I also breast fed soon after birth which were the 2 things which the midwife said should have reduced the risk of this happening. I think the placenta was quite well stuck in there but there is no particular reason why. The consultant said there was a slightly increased risk of it happening again in future so she wouldn't recommend a home birth (they think I bled 1.3l in the end), but I'm fine with that.
M-I-3: I think you have very similar problems with in-laws as me. My husband's family are all (I think) over involved in each other's lives whereas my family are much more independent eg it would never occur to me to get my parents' approval for names but it was very important to my OH that his parents like the name. Some of the stress has come from the fact that I don't get on with my MIL and so she has been worried she will be excluded from the baby's life and she takes this worry out on my OH so he is trapped in the middle between us. Would it help if you asked his family to get involved with things you don't care about so they feel important and involved eg tell them how helpful it would be if they bring some food over or if they could look after your other kids when you go into hospital?
Beautiful bump mv. I hope you get the birth you want and a beautiful child! I shall continue lurking to see how things go for you!

Welcome Supermaiden. Good to see you here. Don't get disheartened if your posts get missed, pregnant women are the most forgetful and I must admit a few of us have spat the dummy (pun intended!) when we've asked questions and they get missed. Persevere/nag and you'll get a response. Lots of ladies on here and some bye-pass the 12 week one so some new faces for you too to come.0
