Hugs to Dusty and MV and any others having worries about how babies will blow our lives apart. I was hugely hormonal in my first trimester and even though we had been TTC for a while, I really hit a brick wall when it all became a reality. Since then I have been growing in confidence and feeling really positive about things .... that was until yesterday

I had a hugely disappointing and upsetting 36 week midwife appointment. I have a suspected UTI again, they also found sugar too, so suspect gestational diabetes - they're going to rush the results through the lab so I will know by Xmas Eve. But if both are positive then it means absolutely no alcohol or sugary treats over the holidays:eek:.

But that's just a minor thing, I'm being refered back to the consultant and they are now saying they aren't happy with me having a home birth, and what's so annoying is that its something that should have been picked up ages ago. I have been crying all night and morning, as I fear having a complicated and medically-intervened hospital labour now. And just two days ago I spent £100 on a home birth pool I will probably never get to use - not very MSE:mad:

I know I can argue and refuse to go into hospital, but I just didn't want this - really wanted these last few weeks to be relaxing, stress free and getting in the "right zone" for birthing.:(

Has anybody gone and got heartburn stuff on prescription save you paying for it?

Yes, I got peptac. Have also asked for something more portable, but so far that hasn't been forthcoming. You can't carry a big glass bottle and a sticky spoon around work.

Are you still doing the "losing the baby weight" thread? I'm well up for that.

makeit3 are there good medical reasons for saying no to a home birth? Have you looked at the AIMS website?

I haven't had a call about my glucose tol test, so 4 options

    1. I'm not diabetic
    2. I'm not iron deficient either
    3. they can't be arsed to ring me
    4. they've lost the results.

    Any bets??!!

Mi3, Big hugs for you (())
GfH, how long do they normally take to give you results if they find something? I only had my test done on monday.

GFH - That's another thing that bugs me, why do they say we'll only call if there's something up. Why can't they just call either way, instead of making us sit and stew.

My midwives are extremely open-minded, but they have to defer to the consultants at certain times because of "hospital policy". In this case, I just have to wait and see what they say before raising any counter-argument, as they are reviewing the size and positioning of the fibroids I have and the risks of PPH. It seems they would prefer me to be in hospital having an IV drip for stage 3.

OH and I have just been discussing the GTT test as I have mine on 10th January. Hopefully it will be that you aren't diabetic GFH do they only contact you if there is a problem then?

I had a prescription sent to me in the post yesterday with a letter from the GP telling me that he wants me to start taking the tablets immediately, no explanation of what they were though which was a little annoying! A Google search revealed they are iron tablets so obviously my blood test last week came out low - would've been nice if someone could've told me that instead of just sending me a letter telling me to start taking the tablets :o

Am allowing myself a few treats over Christmas but as soon as Boxing day is over I'm going to really watch my sugar intake to try and give myself the best chance of passing that GTT.

I am definitely up for joining the "losing the baby weight" thread once bubs has arrived :)

I'm booked in for the flu jab this morning, then some last minute Christmas food shopping this afternoon.

I'm booked in for tomorrow. Had my 34 week appt today and it came up. I wasn't going to have it and still not sure now. But then I think if I did get flu I'd worry a lot and wouldn't forgive myself if something happened. It's so difficult making decisions when it's not your own life that you're thinking about.

Only 3 more working days left until maternity leave :j

@Lilian - I'm too much of a goody two shoes and would just go to work myself.

    @make it 3 - ((hugs))

  • Fairy thats pretty rubbish of your GP. Are they iron sulphate tablets? If so...side effects to look out for include green poo (!!) and constipation. I would increase your fibre and water intake to compensate.

At our surgery they only ring if there's a problem with your bloods.

eta giz I'm booked for flu jab next Friday. Thing is...babe won't die from the 'flu jab, but may die from the 'flu...and if we b/f the babe will have some immunity from that after it is born.

Well, I had my flu jab and did battle with Tesco.

Having a sit down now as I have got a bad stomach, not crampy just pain. I think it might be someting to do with all the carp I have been eating while I have been off sick! I suffer with IBS but have managed to control it by what I eat. However anything and everything has been eaten this past fortnight including things I know trigger it. My own fault really!
    Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j
