Thanks for adding me Sammy_Girl!
Whenever I read about other people's pregnancy worries I can always think of a rational explanation why that's never going to happen and they'll all be fine. I started off TTC knowing all the stats like one in five babies doesn't make it to 12 weeks of pregnancy etc etc and told myself I was being pragmatic so I wouldn't be so upset if it happened to me. Now I feel like ever since my BFP I've been convincing myself that this all isn't going to happen. Got my scan 15th Jan and I'm sure they're going to say little prune has stopped growing. Then I worry thinking that the only reason I would keep think this is because I somehow want it to go wrong, which obviously isn't true. Just can't see the little munchkin at the end of it all tbh.

I would.FairyShazza wrote: »Don't get me wrong I still have worries. My main one being the same as GFH's with her other pregnancy - death in childbirth. OH has also been worried about it and we have even had discussions about me keaving instructions in case the worst happened. Morbid yes, maybe but it was obviously bothering him as he brought it up and we always talk things through with each other no matter what they are.
I wrote a will and arranged for someone to be guardian to the dog...:rotfl:

Thanks for all the concerns ladies. Am at home proper now. No work, just getting over my bug. Doc signed me off til 28th so I have diplomatic immunity! Was glad I went in to work though and I had my S&G delivery there so at least I got to pick that up with all my Crimbo cards.
Just planning to tinker around the house today and tidy up, watch CDWM and chill.
Enjoy today Tickle. How exciting!
So Monday was my scan and it went really well and yesterday went to the midwife. Can carry on drumming but she said an absolute no to the hot tub...which I am going to use my discretion and dip my toes in just. Listened to heartbeat for the first time...wish DH was there or that she had a decent dopler that I could have recorded it but it kept breaking down. Hey ho.
Well, the earth moved for me and DH last night. Shame it was an earth quake! DH thought I was kicking the bed!
Suppose I better get my @ss out of bed and do.....nothing! Went to my first panto (I know, I'm 34) last night. Took niece and nephew....to KFC for their first time....I know! 6 and 8 years old. I felt such a good/bad auntie all at once! Flippin long night tho. Panto started at 7.30pm and we got out at 10pm. Luckily (!) we'd fed them coke, sweets, ice cream etc so they lasted....and then handed them back all e-numbered up!
Catchyalater lumpy bumpys!
ps. Dusty....you should write horror novels. Such a vivid imagination. Bubs will be fine!
pps. Lablover, what about a wee sheepskin rug for bubs to sleep on...they're rollable and compact and i love the cuddleness of them.0 -
dustystar02 wrote: »Re: mat pay Alamaya, I'm nhs too and had a very detailed email from my HR advisor on how much payment you get and when. I'll copy it here tomorrow when I'm back in work xc
As promised, a few excerts from my lengthly email discussion with my NHS HR advisor, may help fellow NHS colleagues:
Your mat leave can start any time up to the day before baby is due. The latest day to start has to be the day before your expected date and if baby comes earlier then your leave starts on that day and any annual leave would be carried forward to take at the end of maternity leave.
As far as I am aware, and you may wish to check it out with another HR advisor, but if you cant take all your annual leave before baby arrives then you are entitled to carry it forward but have to take it before you actually return to work, which means you will come back into pay earlier cos you will be having annual leave paid rather than on unpaid Mat Leave, but by all means check this out again.
The payments are made monthly and are based on the number of days within each month, so for example in March, you start leave on 28th so there will be normal pay 27/31 days and then 4 days at your average worked out as 4/7 of the weekly rate. In April you will get 30 days of £XXX.XX / 7 to get a daily rate.
You pay pension whilst on paid mat leave at the usual 6.5 % of your gross pay and if you go into no pay you pay the pension that would have been due when you come back, this ensures that you do not have a break in your service. Your student loan is based on a yearly average so you may pay for some of the time but if you dip under the limit then you shouldn't be paying.0 -
Cool scan pic Fanta!
Thanks GFH - I will start to price them up.
Tickle - good luck for today!
OK, a naughty question - I finish for mat leave on NYE which means 3 more days this week and 3 next week. I really really can't be bothered going in next week but am happy to work from home. What illness can I invent that won't make me feel guilty in case it actually then does happen, means I can't get in on the train but also can't get a lift in from someone who's been making it in to work through the snow? I'm thinking an SPD flare up?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

I strained all my pelvic ligaments the other week because all the ligaments are so soft in pregnancy its easy to do and very painful, doc advised I have at least a week off work as the only way they will get better is by rest. You can self certify for 7 daysSealed Pot Challenge Member 151
