Thanks dusty and wendz :D He is usually brilliant, and I know it's a combination of me being tired and him being a typical bloke, but it is typical that it's Mummy who gets things done and mostly on her own too.

Anyways, I asked the midwife this morning about the swine flu jab, she said it's personal preference but she wishes she'd had it, and gave me an information leaflet, just rang my doctors to ask about it and they've booked me in to have it tomorrow - I don't hang about when I'm on a mission :rotfl:

Also asked my midwife about the HiP grant, she said I'd just miss out on it, but while I'm 'on one' I feel brave enough to phone round, so I rang the HiP helpline, the lady said as far as she knows the cut off date for EDD is 21st April so she recommended I get the form and send it off anyway as the worst that can happen is them decline it - yet the last midwife I saw told me there was no chance of me getting it, so if any of you are in doubt, it's worth giving them a quick ring to double check.

Hope the docs can sort your ear problem out dusty :)

I have been having this on and off since about 14 weeks. Almost as if your ear has popped and won't pop back?

I did a bit of research and apparently it's quite common in pregnancy due to the increase in mucus in the nasal passages and all the adjoining tubes. I asked the midwife and she didn't seem to think there was anything that could be done.

Let me know if the doctor does anything for it as it has really been doing my head in!

Oh no don't say that!! I was sure I had just done some damage with a cotton bud and the doc had some Magic cream to fix it. Damn pregnancy!!! I can't be like this for another 15 weeks!!!

Will let you know the outcome xx
  • Dusty you may just need your ear syringing, I had to have mine done a few months ago as it was completely blocked. I was prescribed drops for a week but they didn't clear it at all.

Cutterby - sounds like a typical man! As the others have said, I just think they don't think a lot of the time, and don't realise they are being a bit rubbish/insensitive.

Mine is un-distractable when a tv is switched on! He just cannot concentrate on anything else! Drives me mad, probably why I was annoyed with his slouching in front of the tv for most of yesterday! He was whinging this morning about how tired he is, and when I pointed out that he stays up too late watching tv, he just got a bit stroppy, so I left him to his grumbling!

He's slept on the sofa bed a few times recently as I'm sleeping badly now, and his snoring doesn't help as I'm constantly poking him to turn over, so he gets no sleep either!

  • Hi Ladies,

I haven't had chance to post often as I had a long commute and busy job in London but I did read about you all when possible. After starting maternity leave I should have more time to post but as I am going to be full term on Sat I may not be here for long!!

Congrats MV. I am in a very similar position to you. Last year just before Xmas we got our BFP and were so excited only for it not meant to be and those first few dreary months were very hard. I really can't believe we are here now as we had been trying for a while. Each time I see all our baby stuff there is a mixture of joy - and fear!!

Like others I am fed up with being stuck in my London flat for the last four days due to the snow. Not even sure if I should go out today and DH doesn't think it would be a good idea either. After having a very busy job and being out of the house from 7am till 7pm each day, I am finding it strange to adjust to chilling out a bit more. Also sitting around just snacking is not helping and daytime TV is not the best!!

Oh well at least I still have t'internet!!

My GP says to drip olive oil in your ear, one drop a day for wo weeks which softens and loosens it. You may or may not still need it syringing.

She also says 'You should never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear' :rotfl: which i guess is becuse she's seen a lot of people hurting themselves with cotton buds.

Fairy, Dusty, i had that too. Also had it with my 1st pregnancy, it has eased off now, in fact i don't remember the last time it was really bad. Its so annoying though, its like someone has put a glass over your ear or you have gone deaf.
Cutterby, don't feel guilty for having a moan. I'm always moaning on at mine, its not his fault.....yes he's annoying and has his niggling traits, but we are hormonal pregnant women who don't know whether we are coming or going. I'm sure they know that we love them really :-)

    Hello bumpy ladies :)

Can I join in with the winging about OH's, mine has been a right pain this wknd. Mine had late nights / out drinking all wknd, then sits around moaning as if there is something wrong with him  (I have no sympathy for hangovers or for rugby injuries for that matter).
Also I am fed up of being chauffer, so I have told him he is driving on Christmas eve as we're visiting friends - I will prob just have 1 glass of wine but I don't like to drive after that much. He's out the day before and will probably be still hungover but would happily have a few beers if he could get away with it and let me drive again :mad:

Just been out and bought our tree :j:j Only a 4 foot one as its going in the fireplace, but I got a lovely potted one and we should be able to use again next year :) Half price at homebase if anyone is interested, also got 3 rolls of wrapping paper 50p each, bargain :)

MV lovely post this morning :) Congratulations on reaching full term :)

Hello everyone else, welcome lablover. Cutterby I would be fed up if I were you too, but it helps to have a winge so don't feel guilty. Glad that Creature (that makes me smile) behaved and that all seemed well at the scan, it's a relief to find out isn't it.
Fanta, is yours today as well, hope all is well :)

I know I shouldn't but I find it so satisfying getting a cotton bud down there. I think I'm addicted to it :o

Ooh, I had my first pregnant glass of wine on saturday night. We were in an indian restaturant and it wasn't very nice wine but still - I made the leap :D,

My OH has been an angel this weekend. He's been up a ladder all weekend painting the bathroom while I did the lower bits and then took me out for a meal on sat night which I have been moaning at him to do for ages. Then after another trip to B+Q yesterday I had a look in Miss Selfridge at a coat I've been eyeing up for ages and he treated me to it - gold star to that man :T
Although I'm sure this is all buttering me up for him wanting to go out boozing for the next 2 weeks as 'it's christmas'. I have no problem with him getting drunk but he is rough all the day after which annoys me. Obviously I'm jealous too that i can't get boozy with him :rotfl:.

Anyone doing anything exciting for NYE? We just normally stay in or have friends round but this year we are going to a fancy city centre restaurant with friends of our who are also expecting. Making the most of our last New Year without babysitting responsibilites :D
  • milk makes me sick when I have heartburn, so does gaviscon and similar, yes I know I'm odd lol.

Milk just makes me sick at the moment :( Doesn't even reach my tummy, which is odd because I can cope with cream, yoghurt and mild cheese.

Sproglet seemed to be trying to escape today, alien style. There were limbs averywhere...all at the same time.

Anyone know any websites where I can get info on waterbirths?

And am I the only person who doesn't have any boys names figured out.....with just over 7 weeks to go  Mind you, that's the least of our worries, the shower has stopped working, and we're not starting to decorate the master bedroom until January. Baby might have to sleep in a box for a few weeks :D

I hope you're all staying safe in the snow. I decided not to go in to work, as I can do quite a bit from home.

No, staying in and avoiding any invites I can. I don't know why we bother with Christmas and New Year. Hubby just works all of it. I'm always home alone, so usually work all the non-bank holidays so not to waste them when OH is at home.

Hope you enjoy your new year.

I'm all miserable because of OH's work. He had to work yesterday for free. He's got to work late all this week so won't see him. He never gets home at a reasonable hour on Christmas Eve. I'm lucky he's managed to find a couple of volunteers to work boxing day so he's got that off at least.
