  • Thanks Hitchins!! Glad I am not the only one. This is our first baby and although I have got clothes, toiletries etc, I havent got any of the big things like the nursery furniture, or the pram.. I havent even got round to painting the nursery. I am hoping once Xmas is out of the way and I have finished for maternity leave, I can start getting myself organised. :)

  • Anyone else feel like they are not ready at all for their baby coming????

Yep - that will be me then!! I packed the baby's bag the other day and realised I only own 5 white babygro's.... not going to buy anymore though - will manage with that till we see what we are given and also if it is definitely a girl. Tesco is only along the road from the hospital and its 24 hour.....

I was so much more organised with my other 2 than I am this time - don't think I have fully appreciated yet that there is a baby in this here large belly!! I don't expect to have much time after christmas so should really get organised but the thought of battling in the shops now to get stuff makes me shudder!

Do have pram, and cradle - think the sheets are in the cupboard :o if all else fails a towel will do for a night or 2! Think it may be true the saying about no1 is brought up, no 2 is dragged up and no 3 does it itself :rotfl:, am way too laid back!!

I haven't bought much for baby either, just some baby gros and sleepsuits and some socks! I'm going to get Christmas out the way before I start to think about the big stuff. However, I have made a list!

It has snowed even more here over the weekend, now have about 6-7 inches. I have had to cancel my hair appointment which is just as well really as I'm still feeling rough.

Hope everyone is ok, and labour dust to those in need.

@sharkey - I'm physically ready as in have everything for baby. But despite my excitement about 5 weeks ago I've still not packed my hospital bag properly - waiting on the next Tesco shop (27th) which has the last of my bits - juices, cereal bars, lucozade tablets etc. Plan to have it done by new year so I'll be 35 weeks then.

But I don't feel ready to look after a real life little human being :o I'm a bit scared to be honest. It's such a responsibility and I've only held one baby before. Everyone keeps telling me not to worry, it's different when it's your own...blah blah blah. Doesn't make me feel better.

Oddly I'm looking forward to the actual birth! Very strange.

We have heavy snow here in Surrey. Must be 2.5 inches already. I'm happy - it means I can happily stay in all day and have a 'me' day. Hubby is at work so I've spread all my craft stuff on the table and I plan on doing a lot of scrapbooking.

I do hope it clears next week though as it is a pain to drive into work. And being my last week it'd be nice if people actually turned up for work! I have my leaving drinks on Thursday. Friday and the 29th (my last day) are going to be miserable as there's only 3 or 4 of us in.

  • @Giz - I am really worried about the whole process of labour. As mentioned my DH is away at the moment and is only due back a couple of days before the baby is due. I am so scared that the baby might come early and I will be all on my own :( of course when the time comes, I am sure there will be someone there to hold my hand but I really wanted my DH there to experience it as well. I havent even thought about my hospital bag or my birth plan, just feel very overwhelmed by the whole process - as if I do it then it will all be starting to happen if you know what I mean.

You know what Giz, I feel EXACTLY the same as you! Its not the labour and the birth that scares me but the whole having to be responsible and look after such a little person after. I have only ever held 2 babies, who both immediately cried, and have not changed a nappy in my life. And I get you when people say it will be different when it's your own, it doesn't make me feel better either!

  • I'm the same Giz, can't wait for the birth *remind me of them words when I'm having contractions :rotfl:*.

And for you worrying, don't, honestly, your body just takes over.:)

Sorry to hear you're still feeling poo Ice :( Getting my hair done today, can't flipping wait, not had it done for over 6 months, it's ready to walk itself to the hairdressers!

  • HM thanks for that, I'm having a ten pounder with the pool guy :rotfl:

    nic how is your LO?

And honestly, don't worry about the birth. sharkeybabe I'm slightly worried also about DH not being here, his Ma is ill at the moment, and sod's law he'll be in the middle of a mercy dash when baby comes.

  • Morning all. :)

    16 weeks tomorrow!

Hope you're all keeping warm. We've just had a sugar dusting of snow, but the last stuff hasn't finished melting and it's like an ice rink here. It was -4 at 5pm.

Cutterby, physio was good thanks for asking x. Apparently my pelvis has dropped on the right side (which is unusual apparently, but my body likes to be awkward!), but she managed to manipulate it into a better position for now. Have got a tubigrip and will get a support belt later. Have got a stomach exercise to do and I can call her any time for another appointment. Slept much better, just a bit uncomfortable from the pulling about. :)

FF, it's a shame you didn't get to your night out, hope you're feeling better.

Ice, hope you feel better soon too.

My Matalan parcel finally arrived yesterday!!

    Got this -

which is a soft blanket with fur on the back, a fab jacket which matches in baby needlecord and the hooded towel and wash mitt which also match.

My appointment tomorrow is at 11. Going shopping afterwards, got my Boots parenting club vouchers through yesterday, so I'll make a dent in those.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

You've got just as much chance being late :) Try and remain positive. I understand the whole packing the bag makes it more real and much closer. But best to be prepared...so get packing soon!! Even if it's just the little luxuries that you wouldn't want to be without (ipod/CDs/pillow/dressing gown). ((hugs))
