Hi ladies, sneaking on from the less than 12 weeks thread, have been reading back a little and was just wondering a few people have put they would prefer a c section rather than forceps in their birth plans - is there a reason for this? I know it's early to be thinking about it but I would probably forget by the time that I need to know so thought I would ask now!

I have read a few horror stories of damage that can be done to the baby using forceps, and I think you also need a fairly large episiotomy in order to use them. I would consider the suction cap though.

Morning all ! Congratulations to welshlassie and Catw0man.

Tigerlee - I know how you feel about being fifth on the list - I'm now third! It seems like for ages I had to scroll down in find my name and now suddenly I've jumped to the top.

Going into town today to get a few last Christmas gifts. Starting to feel absolutely huge and uncomfortable but no sign baby is going anywhere. Time for some curry I think!

    Good Morning Ladies,

    Congratulations Catwoman and Welshlassie :j

Cat - Sorry about the not so nice birth buy yay for the end result

Welshlassie - your labour sounds great - I'll have one of those please :)

Does anyone know what the main difference between the Maxi Cosi Cabrio and Pebble car seats are? Apart from the price lol. I *think* I have my perfect pram now (at last!) and just trying to finalise the car seat but don't really understand the difference between the two.

Off to walk the dog and then brave Boots and Sainsburys - wish me luck :)

    Morning ladies :D

Huge congratualtions to Welsh Lassie and Cat. Will update the list in a minute.

Thankfully feeling better today so just prgnancy sickness after all!

The snow was fairly falling last night. Woke up to a good couple of inches. I don't think it has to snow much more over the next few days so hopefully it wont be as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago. We are supposed to be going to the panto in Inverness tomorrow but will have to see what the roads are like (it's by bus).

Have a fab day and all those with the lurgy hope you feel better soon.

    xx

    :j

Thought I'd try and order mine online just now and they are still in stock :D Have ordered one for store collection and used the £5 off a £20 spend code from the parenting club (a quick search on here will find it).

That means I got mine for £20 and also went through Quidco so will get a little bit of cashback too :D

Thanks for the reminder I had assumed it would be sold out online and was going to battle with people in town after work today. Now I don't need to go there :)

  • Wonderful to hear about the new arrivals, congratulations.

    Changing tables...

I know someone asked about them. I know many say they are not necessary but we bought 2 when we had DS, 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs. They were very simple ones from TR Us. I bought cheap baskets from Mr T & in them kept the nappies, cotton wool or wipes & all the clothes. I mostly used the one downstairs so it had nearly all his clothes in the baskets but I made sure the upstairs one had a few babygrows, vets etc in. For me they were wonderful. I had SPD during pregnancy & for many women this does not go the second you give birth, it took 6 months for mine to really settle down. Being able to use the changing table really helped. It also meant everything was kept in a place that was easy to grab in a hurry. I have back problems as well so again being able to change at the right height made my life a lot less painful.

Friends who came over said they didn't need one & yet always said how much easier & more comfortable it was using mine. So not a necessity for many but really helpful none the less. We lent 1 of ours to my SIL who again has been really pleased to have it. The other one is still in DS bedroom but now with plastic boxes on the shelves full of toys, so it's still being used. It needs to go back to being a changing table again though when this baby arrives.

The only nursery furniture we bought for DS was a cot & the 2 changing tables, he didn't need anything else for a long time as there was more then enough storage space for all his things in the changing table baskets. Cheap changing table & cheap baskets & worth every penny as it did well for DS & will now be used for this one :)
