Interesting. I had absolutely NEVER heard of this before. Not sure this would be for me though but interresting all the same.

I need to write my birth plan today but there are things I haven't even researched yet - argh. Like placenta delivery.

In nicer news, I've made an appointment to see a local nursery next week!

Yes I agree it DOES look interesting. I need to research it a bit more though I think.

I've been writing/researching my birth plan since December 2007. I still need to write up my reasoning with references though - last time the midwife went and got a doctor to come and debate with me about cord clamping/cutting while I was in labour even though my community midwife had been fine with what I'd put.

Your probably right about the Blue ray player. we normally spend £100 on each other, I know he has on me. Im just struggling to think of something special on top of the boots. It was a brain wave I had and I think I was just glad to think of something. He has a million jumpers and shirts etc.

For Christmas there will be 7 of us, same on boxing day, then on the 27th we have 3 friends coming plus us and the kids, then on the 28th we have my Oh's parents so 6 of us then.

So there is breakfast, lunch and dinner for boxing day, 27, 28th then brekkie on the 29th too.
For boxing day I was just going to make a left over buffet. I was hoping to have enough soup left over to do the lunches right through., Dinner for friends I havent thought about yet.
Dinner for the inlaws is 3 bird roast, tatties and veg.

For the breakfasts i was just going to put out cornflakes or bacon rolls.

My mum and dad are bringing all the booze for xmas day and prob boxing day plu the dessert for xmas dinner. But we have all the booze to think about for the rest of the week. I know my friends like a good drink and we only see them once a year as they live in Prague and Baltimore, so I want it all really special. Im sure they will bring some booze but I didnt want to leave it to chance.

Im good at getting deals, whoopsied stuff etc and very rarely pay full price for anything. I have some Tesco clubcard vouchers, M&S vouchers etc to use. I already have whoopsied meat, pigs in blankets, a ham , and homemade mince pies in the freezer.

It might all seem a lot but im a very frugal person and dont spend much all year except on necessary items. We dont do big birthday pressies either. And because we have moved we wont see them all again for ages. Plus this is my first proper xmas hosting so I guess I just want it to be great.

Sorry dont know if im justifying myself to yous or me lol.

I will make some cutbacks and get more lists drawn up, I now have lists about lists.

I can hardly remember the placenta delivery with both babies as i was too busy cuddling and kissing the baby. The midwives basically got on with things, gave me the injection as baby was actually being born. After trying to get the baby to latch on and the midwife massaging my tummy she told me to push with a small contraction and it did sort of flump out. There was no real fuss over it.
By this point I was relieved for it all to be over and to be holding the baby, the placenta was a small thing happening in the background.

Im seriously considering a home birth for the first time. I stay a 40 minute drive from the hospital, I have no babysitters for the kids and Oh works 25 miles in the other direction. Plus DS was born very quickly.

The local midwives are happy for me to have one as long as everything stays healthy. Its my OH I have to convince. He is worried about something happening and not being able to get to the hospital in enough time. He also thinks it will be too messy lol.

I think id rather be relaxed in my own home with the kids in their room at the other end of the house. Ive only ever used gas and air and a Tens machine so hopefully wont feel the need for anything stronger this time.

Can I ask who is all having a homebirth? And what has been the deciding factor in having it or not having one?

    Reasons for choosing a homebirth:
    • Almost everything on my birth plan was ignored (they only followed one thing I stated if you discount my agreeing to their default procedures and stating my husband would be present) and I think in my own home my wishes are more likely to be respected.
    • On average women who have homebirths are more satisfied with the experience.
    • On average women having homebirths require less pain relief.
    • You get one to one midwife care instead of one who pops in now and again.
    • A midwife who attends a homebirth should be more competent as they know they are responsible and they can't go running to a doctor about every little thing.
    • It is more relaxing being at home and you don't have the faff off getting to hospital.
    • I hated staying in hospital and would much rather be in the comfort of my own home.
    • I can have a waterbirth.
