I've already got stretch marks from gaining and then losing a lot of weight.

I've been offered the flu jab by my GP and I'm weighing up what to do, whether to have it or not. Is there ANY risk to the baby if I have it or is the risk of getting a bad dose of flu worse for baby? I just don't know.

Anyway, the other thing I was starting to think about (after looking through the ton of leaflets) was nappies. I think I have to do some more research, but I'm quite keen on reusable. I found some that dry in 4 hours (much shorter than others, they're designed to come out the machine quite dry-ish) - I was thinking that one of the main problems is that we've got no tumble dryer and dry our clothes inside.
To get a set of everything you need new is €515, but on the same website you can look for 2nd hand ones. I was also reading somewhere on here that you can get a fleece blanket from Ikea and cut it up for the liners....
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas/opinions/experience...
I didn't use nappies quite conventionally as I did elimination communication but I found terry squares were good for drying. Someone gave us some shaped ones but I found they took ages to dry because they weren't a single flat layer. I use disposable liners but stopped once nappy poos became rare so didn't need them for very long.
Why was the woman lying down on the bed?
Maybe she was forced to - I was.
Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.

Iceicebaby, my recommendation is complete bed rest, use whatever help you have round you to look after you and eat well. It was the chest and cough that were the worst. Baby seemed to get very agitated (I was probably disturbing its sleep every time I coughed) and would kick my ribs in protest, that and the aches.

Is anyone not planning to batch cook? I just think OH can do the cooking during the first few weeks, if I can't find the time.

With the exception of a necessary trip to Tescos on Friday, me and the cat needed food lol I have not moved from the settee or bed!

Woke up this morning, had a bath and went to put my Boots bio oil on, and there grinning at me on my belly was a stretch mark. It starts at my belly button and runs upwards

I'm going to be putting on twice as much oil from now on to try and stop the rest of them from appearing. I can see areas where a stretch mark looks imminent, so hopefully I can catch them in time.

I know it sounds vain, and lots of people get stretch marks, but I'm just worried that I'll come out of this and I won't look like me any more.

Hi - is it definitely a stretchie or is it the linea negra?

  • Ice - after spending two nights in hospital from saturday with the flu, I wish I was offered it. Although the flu hasn't harmed my baby it has made me so worried and I have felt worse then I ever have. I dnt know if the jab has much risk but I'm sure they wouldn't offer it if it was a large risk to baby, its definitely worth considering.

Congrats to all those I have missed. And I'm so sorry for your loss purple.

I'm just waiting to be discharged from hosp at the mo, I'm so bored and still feel like poo but I just want to be in my own bed.

Can i pick your brains please ladies? Im panicking about how much money I have left for Christmas pressies plus the Christmas shop.

I still have to buy my Oh-Blu ray player £100 ish. i already got him boots before I knew what I was getting him. Do you do a stocking for your hubbies? Last year I put 2 bottles of nice beer in an old stocking I had. He never does one for me and Im not bothered but I like the idea of doing one for him. It means having to more searching and buying.

I also have to get my 2 sisters. they are both getting perfume £30 and a wee Soap and Glory thing (3 for 2)

Can I ask what you get your brother in laws? This is where im struggling. We normally just spend a tenner on them. My sisters usually get a silly pressie like tiny remote control cars etc. I normally get Boots gift sets.

After all this it leaves me with around £100 to get all the shopping for Christmas meal (starter, soup, booze, nibbles etc) We have the turkey sorted and thought we'd try an Aldis 3 bird roast for in the inlaws on the 28th, so the most expensive bit is bought but im worried I wont have enough.
We also have friends coming on the 27th so I need to consider breakfast, lunch and dinner for them.

I would ask OH but he is paying the rent this month as I dont have a job since the move. He has also bought the turkey etc.

Just reading back and dont know what advice im looking for but I feel better for seeing it all written down lol. Feel free to ignore my mad rant.
