Welcome to all the newbies.
I have been maternity clothes shopping over the last couple of days, its finally come to the time when my normal clothes, especially bottoms are no good (I'm 20 weeks with my first)
I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the selection, or non selection!. I went to H&M, New Look, Debenhams, mothercare and JoJoMamanBebe. All had really dark drab colours, blacks, greys and browns I know its winter but still! Or there were tacky looking tops emblazomed with "bump on board" or "preggers and proud" etc
I ended up buying a pair of jeans and a top in New Look and a pair of beige cords and 3 tops in H&M.
However I found the sizes even more bizarre than "normal! clothes. We all know one shops size 14 is a 16 somewhere else! I bought the jeans from New Look in a 14 which is my normal size and they were fine, however the cords from H&M I had to get a 20 as anything smaller wouldnt go over my thights, never mind the bump!
So my experience of maternity clothes shopping was a bit frustrating to say the least!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Ice, have you tried Peacocks? I got some lovely stuff from there.
The jeans are a weird size though, mine are an 18 but fit perfectly and my others are a 16 and are too big.0 -

I couldn't get the Matalan codes to work more than one at a time so gave it a miss.
Sammy, my pram is this one - http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-ultima-9-in-1-mpx-chassis-couture-brown/259717201/type-i/
I can't resist a bargain and less than half price works for me. My BFF bought this in black and paid full price and I've always envied her. She swears by it although some bits she's outgrown within a few months. Hopefully it won't be my last time using it0 -
Oooo, 17+4 days for me and had my first flutter today

GFH - So it sounds like the Quinny Buzz works for you then. Tbh, we're not rural but obviously we take the dog to parks, fields etc - and where my parents live is very rural, so we need something suitable for there too. But I'm also likely to be pottering around the shopping centre too - so don't want anything too big and bulky. Oh, it's such a hard one. There's almost too much choice!
MV - Did you get to your MW appt today?
Yes I did thanks Sammy. The worst bit was actually getting the car out of our road! All the main roads had been gritted.
It might be the last time I have to see Fat, Horrible Midwife againMy next appt is at the hospital, and then my 38 week appt is back at the GP but FHM is on holiday, so unless I go overdue, I won't have to see her again! :j

Hello ladies - I'll say good morning in advance as it's 4.45 your time and I'm up having a bit of a sleepless night.... well woke ages ago, couldn't get back to sleep, Mr Wriggly was really going for it with some nice strong kicks followed by tickling me under the ribs. So after an hour I gave up and came downstairs.... and it's only 2 hours til I have to go to work!
Happy Birthday for yesterday Teenie!0 -
Ice, I know what you mean about maternity clothes, there is such a limited range in the shops. Went looking for a party frock the other day and there was nothing, only casual clothes or like you say t shirts with silly logos! Ended up getting a stretchy normal dress in tesco.
I got a few things from mamas and papas in the sale, and a few secondhand things from eBay, plus a couple of friends have sent me' stuff too. I find dresses usually still work, or leggings with long tops.
Fanta woo for first flutters, think that's about when I first felt wriggle. Amazing isn't it
I am wide awake and hugely stressed this morning. I have loads on at work which I'm worried about not finishing (pg brain / lack of sleep making me' less productive) and also have an exam on Friday which I need to find time to study for, stayed late at work last night to do revision and ended up just working instead. Need to get lots done this weekend and get a bit more focus back at work!)
OH birthday today, am trying hard not to wake him
Hugs and bump rubs to everyone
Em xx0
