To bring this conversation back to babies lol.
Anyone using cloth nappies. Any recommendations??
I'm going to be using cloth nappies too, I got a pack of samples from my council, it had 5 different types of nappies in it to try and I will see how I get on before I decide which ones to go with. I know which are my favourite because they look so cosy and soft!!0 -
Argh chatty chatty chatty bunch you are today – tried to catch up but have failed miserably I think! Sorry to anyone I have missed.
Welcome JadeNacre, Cyclura Littlebit and Babyboysmummy - wow lots of newbies!
Sorry to hear you are struck down with another kidney infection Rockerbikergirl I’ve had one before and they are horrible at the best of times let alone when pregnant. I hope that it starts clearing up soon for you
Welshlassie I’m relatively new so missed ‘knowing’ you from before but please don’t beat yourself up over anything. You are obviously dealing with a lot of stuff and if this thread is somewhere that you come and vent and let of steam then so be it.
We may not be medically trained but we can listen and offer a shoulder to cry on at anytime night or day as there will always be someone along soon to offer some words of kindness or an ear. It seems so unfair that you have been left all alone by the medical professionals such as your midwife etc to deal with this on your own
As Princess Coupon says I am sure that your midwife and GP would’ve changed your meds if they had any chance of causing any problems to your baby so try not to worry too much. Easier said than done though I know
Dusty we are going to go for the Maxi Cosy car seat and Family Fix base as well. I did a search and the Aton and the Primo Viaggio seats from M & P have got terrible reviews whereas there are so many positive comments and reviews about the Maxi Cosi range that I think I would prefer to get one of those. Apparently it will fit the Zoom using the Aton adapters
MV Grrrrrrr to your boss – not long till you are out of there. I am already counting 9 weeks on Friday have had the day from hell (rant coming up) and am pretty fed up today
As for me my maternity leave cannot come soon enough I tell you
I have been given the crappest job in the world to do today! Basically it’s putting together data packs to be distributed out to staff – normally straight forward photocopying and collating……..not this time!
Some of the documents (about half of them) have been made from two, four or eight pieces of A3 paper which have been sellotaped together along the edges and joins to make huge massive documents. I have got to copy each A3 sheet and then recreate the original by sticking them altogether with sellotape – TWENTY FIVE !!!!!!!g times for each one there are three documents with two A3 sheets, two with four sheets and one with 8 sheets.
I’ve been STOOD at the photocopier for 5 hours copying and sticking all the pages together and I am only half way through! My back is killing me from standing and bending over the table and I am totally fed up. I even went to see the Business Manager because my boss said I shouldn’t be standing that long and I should bring it up and all he said was “well it needs to be done, try not to stand for too long, take a seat while you are sticking them”
I’m absolutely fed up with them taking the p**s out of me. They just give all me the crap stuff to do that nobody else wants to and as I seem to get closer to my maternity they seem to be giving me more and more stuff to get done
The HR woman told me “we’ve had lots of interest in your job” as the advert went out for my maternity cover last week, as if I really care! I told her “that’s nice to hear, they are bloody well welcome to it!”One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -
Some things to think about, that might help with your decision:
-How important is cost? Would you put up with inconvenience for cheapness, or be willing to pay more for it to be easy?
-Do you have a tumble dryer? If not, do you have lots of drying space? Some types dry quicker than others.
Fire away if you have questions - I love my cloth nappies
Thanks Chakani and also Gizmodo for your replies.
To answer Chakanis questions, cost is very important its one of the main reasons for wanting to go cloth to try and get one cost at beginning with minimal costs until potty age.
I wouldnt mind inconvenience too much but obviously if it was too bad i would probably give up (trying honesty here lol)
I have a tumble dryer and also an indoor air dryer.
I asked "the nappy lady" for recommendations and she gave numerous options the main being terry nappies with the motherease wraps you mentioned. However in the next breath said terry nappys were not particularly good at night??. Also the Terrys option came out to about £200 which is the same as a birth to potty kit?
I spotted the Totsbots Bamboozle Stretchies and Close Parent Pop ins.
Woah lol i am totally confused about them lolBaby Girl Born May 2011Baby Boy Born Nov 2012

Garnet - its an area in dundee about a mile from where he lives. he is snowbound.
Hubby called to say he is within dundee city limits but on the a90 and not looking good, right hand lane is bad apparently. he is going to attempt tesco on way home to pick up some bits just in case
Ahh, thought it had to be a different one to the one I'm thinking about! He'd be walking for a week otherwise. :rotfl:Snap!!Evansangel wrote: »I think that might be it Giz, i didn't read it as i dont use them
GarnetLady, John Barrowmen is so very sexy. His campness doesn't put me off
He his very yum. Went to see his for the third time about 6 weeks ago (wasn't sure we were going to make it, it was the same time as I had the second lot of bleeding.), turned out our seats were basically front row, it was totally fab. I got a few good pics and some video.
Campness doesn't bother me either.Add David Tennant to the mix, and I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven. :rotfl:

Smile sweetly and count the days. Some employers are sooo crap about maternity leave. My last place wouldn't give me any training while I was pregnant, because "what was the point?" I went back after maternity, smiled sweetly and effed off to a place that treats it's staff well.Evansangel wrote: »GarnetLady, John Barrowmen is so very sexy. His campness doesn't put me off
Um...he's not just camp, he has a long term boyfriend...Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Yeah, they're civil partners too.
(I don't have much to add to the employment thing as I'm not working. Very glad I no longer work where I used to though, the whole pregnancy thing would have been a drama and nightmare. But at the end of the day, anyone has to put themself and baby first) Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -
