A cyclist's rant to incompetent road users...

I just want them to follow the same rules that I have to. I don't see why I should do an emergency stop to give way to them when they run a red light, especially when I have been waiting patiently for a green light.
I don't see why they can just jump off the pavement at random into the road at will in front of me and then blame me with their high and mighty looks.
Nothing to do with size. If anything cyclists have more of a chip on their shoulders than most motorists or else they would have more respect.
Every single one of your points can be applied with equal measure to motorists.0 -
I see far more rule breaking from motorists than from cyclists, and jumping a red light with a tonne+ of vehicle is considerably more dangerous than a 150 pound cyclist . Personally I think drivers should be tested every 5 years at least. The reason motorists have to be insured and licensed is because more than a few are so reckless and dangerous. 3000 people killed every year by drivers?
And yes, there's no such thing as road tax.0 -
Pew pew we get the point you're a cyclist.
You may well abide the highway code and i applaud you if you do, but it still doesn't retract the fact that the majority of cyclists are pure wan*ers solely because they do not adhere to the highway code. The majority of RTC's that involve cyclists are purely because the cyclist popped a red light or something, or worse tried undertaking a HGV/Bus etc.
Don't get me wrong i like riding a bike but only on bike trails etc.If Adam and Eve were created first

Do you have any citation for that "The majority of RTC's that involve cyclists are purely because the cyclist popped a red light or something, or worse tried undertaking a HGV/Bus etc." or did you just make it up ?
I don't have a link, but I'm sure remember reading not so long ago research by some insurer showed that motorist were at fault in something like 80% of collisions with cyclists.
Anyway, I'm off to kill some people, my next door neighbour is serial axe murderer, so it's OK for me to kill a few people, when he cleans up his act, I will... (joke btw!)0 -

And film it and put it on YouTube? :T
One less tractor on the road is a win in my book.0 -

I'm going by my observation within my job role actually.
I don't take everything i read for gospel thankfully.
Also depending on where you live influences the scenarios you see. If you live in the sticks you'll hardly notice cyclists doing illegal things. Me being in the thick of Central London i'll prob see 10 illegal practises by cyclists by the time i've smoked a cigarette !If Adam and Eve were created first

Yes. The vast majority of motorists obey the law. The vast majority of cyclists do not.The man without a signature.0 -

You are wrong. Motorists have exactly the same rights as cyclists. The only public highways that cyclists have the right to use and motorists don't are dedicated cycleways, bridleways (but only since 1968), some restricted byways or any other public highway where other traffic is controlled by a Traffic Regulation Order. Cyclists have no right at all to use the public roads defined as motorways.I pay income tax. As taxpayers, almost all cyclists do.
Nice to know. What has it got to do with this discussion?Congratulations, you managed to miss the point by about 5 miles. My logic is that the lowest co2 emitting vehicles pay no VED. Some are suggesting that cyclists, which emit even less co2, pay more.
Your logic is flawed. Some of the highest CO2 emitting vehicles also pay no VED. Applying your logic to that fact would suggest that, as they are at the opposite end of the scale, cyclists should pay more than anyone else.I'm constantly amazed at the ignorance of people on this point. Education and general knowledge in this country really is !!!! poor.
I agree!

i would like to nominate the cyclist who caused a small 'altercation' with me last week.
Coming out of work, on an industrial estate, dark and raining, visibility was crap.
Driving down the road,(not fast thank god, only just pulled off our works forecourt) for this 'cyclist' to appear right in front of me.
He was cycling the wrong way,on my side of the rd, no lights, wearing dark clothing.
I stopped, he stopped, and then started giving ME abuse! he then continued to go past, still the wrong way on my nearside, still effing and blinding, and giving me the 'come have a go if your hard enough' routine, now being over 6ft and around 21 stone, that was a bit of a silly thing to say ..... however i remembered my car has a reverse gear ........ he soon fled when the reverse lights came on.
Its times like that when i wish i was legally obliged to point out the error of his ways.
But then again, its always the motorists fault ..........˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ
