A cyclist's rant to incompetent road users...

I have tried riding in other gear or with boxer shorts: it isn't at all comfortable.
I couldn't understand the point of lycra either, but I'm beginning to see it as a good idea... I've just got back from a 20 mile ride in very hilly woods in the rain wearing jeans and boxer shorts and it feels as if a certain part of my anatomy has been tied in enough different knots it should be awarded a scouts' badge.
There's something great about overtaking people in lycra on super-bikes when I'm on my £125 bike wearing jeans and sandals, though. I plan to get a straw hat and a pipe to perfect my look...
Seriously, though - the more you ride, the more uncomfortable you're gonna get, and the more appealing lycra will seem... I guess.0 -
Then my Mothers broken ankle requiring two operations to repair caused by a bike on the pavement not meaning full damage.
My mother's ankle was broken by a dog. Required an operation, pins, still can't walk properly a year later.
Clearly dogs should have insurance, cos my mother got not a penny in compensation.0 -

Silly comparison really, as I understand it dogs on a leash and under control are allowed on a pavement.
And also from my earlier post.
"I am however talking about me someone who even has their dog insured against third party risk."
So if my dog had broken your Mothers leg and I or the dog was at fault. she would have been paid?0 -

I presume you mean the dogs' owners.
Sorry to hear about your mother. Did she actually try and sue for compensation? I wasn't aware that having no insurance excused the dog owner from their liability if they were at fault.0 -
Cars are allowed on roads and they still have to have insurance so your point is moot. I thought the comparison was utterly valid fwiw.
Indeed but what's it got to do with it and what it means is anybody's guess?
Cars are allowed on a road as long as they have insurance, vehicle tax, and the person who is driving is licensed to do so!
Dogs are allowed on pavements whether their insured or not as long as their leashed and under control and you have in your procession a Poo bag! [in my area anyway]
Bicycles are not allowed on a pedestrian area period! Where is the comparison?0 -

Changed it. whatever its called you need it! It is also still common used term, although it is as you pointed out an incorrect term.0

The owners walked off without stopping. No way of identifying them.0 -
Pedants aside, car tax, vehicle tax, road fund licence, vehicle excise duty are all widely understood, used, and accepted terms for the same thing.0
