A cyclist's rant to incompetent road users...

I am sorry, but I won't ever help a cyclist again. In May of this year, a bicycle came off the pavement in front of me. He left a tiny scratch on my bumper-bar, he did not even come off his 'bike, A month or so later he was sueing me for personal injury ( a sprained ankle - with no medical back-up). I had to fork out an extra £187+ in insurance (due to my renewing and not declaring a claim pending - oh, where was my crystal ball?) Also, being self-employed my i.d. is on my work vehicle - I make ends meet, that is all. I think it is wrong for insurance companies to take extra money off the insured for what is basically a fraudulent claim. The claim has now been withdrawn, but the insurance company never informed me, I 'phoned them, but it will be still another month before it is all settled. He will not be done for lying - presumably he got help from a no-win-no-fee solicitor, who gave him upto £300 to take his case on. He has made my life hell, I have had other personal problems in addition, but why should this prat care or get away with what is paramaount to fraud? A while ago I saw a woman fall off her bike, I checked she was ok, i.e. still alive, but i did not help her, in case she tried to sue me. A month ago, I saw a bike lying next to a bus-stop, I gathered the person who had fallen off it was drunk, he was under the shelter. I live in a city and would have helped anybody in the past, not anymore, I am too scared of being sued, especially by cyclists who do not have any insurance and can do what the hell they like!!!0

A good point about the insurance, cyclists use the roads so why don't they have to have insurance like motorists, after all they get involved in accidents so it would be in their interest.
Same as if they get caught with no lights, bad brakes, being drunk, FINED and after a few more offences, BANNED.0 -

I'd like to see the cyclists point of view on this one.....
What you think happened and what really happened, could be two entirely different things..... I mean, there's no witness, there's no evidence, if he'd simply hit your car (4x4?) I strongly doubt he'd have even bothered to stop and note down your reg.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Pedestrians use the roads. Should they have insurance?0 -
Perhaps you are right, they are on the road getting out of the way of cyclists on the pavement.
Thanks Mikey72 that's what I meant.0 -
