hiya
what address did you send this too. I sent mine a couple of months ago ( september ) to Leeds, but luck though. I will now forward the 2nd letter that is on this site.

I requested refund of my bank charges and also sent off my tenner under the data protection act for a complete list of bank chrages from Halifax plc. Previously they made me an offer of just under £300.00p which I ignored.
I used the template letter in this forum and got this reply. Any suggestions?
Dear Sir
Conplettion of request for a list of transaction charges - account xxxxxx
Thank you for your letter requesting specific information on your account with us. I can confirm that copies of duplicate statements have been ordered and will be sent under seperate cover.
With regard to your request for information relating to manual intervention on your account, HBOS plc is under no statutory obligation to record this information and therefore, I am unable to assist further with your request.
I have received the copies of charges which I am now going to input into the xcel spreadsheet to calculate interest which I got from this forum, any comments re the refusal to inform me of any manual intervention?
Regards
Batjonesy0 -
Many banks say this, if they don't disclose any manual intervention, they will have a hard time using it as part of their defence.0

After a bit of reading I'm hoping I can get mine sorted without the need for that, but you never know with this lot. I'm not afraid to close my account if the full value of charges are not fully refunded to my account, without the need to take any futher action. In other words even if they do refund them, if I'm having to give up precious time to write out half a dozen letters and visits/phone calls to X Y and Z then I'd rather go elsewhere.
Well the letter is now sent by recorded mail.
I will keep you informed how it goes on. I found that no matter how many people I spoke to there position of not wanting to negotiate did not change. Let's see how this letter has improved the situation...?0 -
I recently accepted a £1,132 settlement from Halifax against a claim for £3,400 in charges over the last 3 1/2 years. I didn't want the hassle of going to court as I am pregnant. I realise now that my decision to accept was hasty and as they are continuing to charge me I would like to try and claim back ALL the charges. I am getting really upset about all of this and and 8.5 months pregnant. Does anyone think I have a chance? Is it even worth trying? How should I go about this? I would really appreciate any help advice that anyone has to offer.0

I bank with the Halifax and have written to them twice using the templates on this website about reclaiming my bank charges but I've had no reply to either letter.
Both letters were sent to their head office in Halifax with all the correct information but they have ignored them.
Does anyone know what I can do next??0 -

RAQ, when replying to someone elses message please press the quote button (not the Quick Reply) and then leave the quoted text in your message.....its impossible to tell who you are talking to otherwise which is probably why you haven't had any replies to your posts. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -

Have you sent letters asking for charges to be refunded or sent a DPA request? If you haven't sent a DPA request then I assume you know how much you wish to reclaim? I sent my DPA request and received a reply in seven days from the Halifax stating that it may take up to 40 days to send the statements, which I already knew, but at least they've responded.
Have all your letters been sent by recorded or special delivery? He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -
Hi
I have a cashcard account with the Halifax that I have held for the past 71/2 years.
On several occasions I have tried to get it changed to a current account with an overdraft facility but have been refused. They have told me they will only do this if I can keep my account charge free for 12 months then they'll review it.
So for the last 71/2 years I have been charged everytime my account has gone overdrawn as I'm not allowed too. It used to be £28 now its a staggering £39. As a single parent it's not always easy to keep a lot of money in my account and accidents do happen. Is this bank being unfair? Can I try and claim back my charges or because my bank account isn't an overdraft account is it not possible.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.:T
Also, who provides the best current account for people like me. I have applied to Smile and Alliance & Leicester and they've both turned me down.0
