What time does Ste come in? I had to go back to work when my eldest was 7 months. First I worked in a convenience store doing a couple of 6pm-11pm shifts plus 5 hours on a Sunday, after 6 months I found an even better evening job 5-8 Mon-Fri. It was for a large national DIY store. Our co-op offers shifts that start at 6pm, and so does Tesco. Not sure about the others. From my days in a convenience store i know that they *used* to be very busy on lottery nights (wed and sat) and some places take on extra staff to cover these times.

Ste gets in a bout 6.10.

10 watchers on the dress but no bids. K's teeth haven't been TOO bad but she did have a big screaming fit earlier so I'm guessing they're still giving her grief. No sign of any coming through yet though..... *sigh*

Ten watchers is good though - hope they're not all DFWs! It's a lovely dress, I'm sure you'll have plenty of interest.

IA - can I ask how your boss screwed you over. Don't forget I was screwed over while I was on maternity leave, and i got awarded £22,000 for the privilege. (didn't get any of the money though - felt like I'd won the lottery and lost my ticket!). AND I had a complete change of career when I was your age. I went from being a librarian (not as boring as it sounds) to an account (God I really am boring). I am currently considering another career change!

You have learnt so much over the last few months and lets face it you are good at dishing out the advice. Ever thought of being a social worker or something like that??

Basically when I went on maternity leave everything was sorted for me going back to the same hours and I had both girls booked into the nursery I worked at for the hours I worked. I then went on maternity leave expecting to go back after 6 months. Then about halfway through my leave my boss said that she had to cut my hours from 27 to 16 because she had too many staff. Then it turned out that they couldn't fit the girls in for the hours I needed so I had to look around for alternative childcare with only 2 months notice which if you have kids you'll know it's impossible to get care for 2 children at the same place for the hours you need with that much notice so I was basically forced to give up work because I couldn't find childcare.
