Bunny, well done on the eBaying :T

We've got a load of driveway bricks stacked up behind our shed, I bet there must be a good couple of hundred or so - might have to try selling those!

i like it on this thread. i think people on here are friends and give each other support and advice.
i think i'll try washing my dress in my machine. immoral angel, do you think i should put it on a handwash cycle? did you just use ordinary washing powder? it's lined underneath with netting. on the label it says 100% polyester lining, 100% acetate satin mesh and 100% nylon. sorry to bombard you with questions, but i'm a bit nervous about washing it but i want to because it'll save me loads of money!

Wow Bunny! Well done on the Ebaying...

I'm ashamed to say that I threw my wedding dress away. If it had only been the grass stains at the bottom it woul dhave been ok, but mates boyfriends were messing about on the dancefloor and KNOCKED ME OVER. Dancefloor full of spilled drinks, broken glass, fag ash etc etc. Arghhhhh. Mind you - our fault. People still remember our wedding as being the drunkest ever event lol!! (we brought our own wine & cava so the waiting staff were running round topping up galsses so then we'd run out and people would spend at the bar!!).

So good on all those who have their dresses still in an ok state! Mine was in a bag for a year, scrumpled up. Fortunately, it was £50 in a wedding dress sale but I think now I should stuck it in the washing machine. Very wasteful of me and I never would have done it now!!

Mine has come out ok as well and I will be putting it on eBay once we move. there is LOADS of dirt stains around the bottom but I imagine they could be hemmed up or just ignored, lol. (Emily, I stuck mine on a wool wash cool with normal deteregent) It is missing a few beads, but I think they were missing before I washed it lol. My wedding was a VERY druken affair as well...

Thanks re. the ebay stuff-we're going to use the money to buy stuff for the new place like paint and curtains etc.

I think you'll be fine on any cool wash that doesn't agitate it too much. Mine has netting underneath and is made of polyester same as your Emily.

Emily if your dress has beads I would put it in to a duvet cover and wash it in that!! it will stop the beads coming in to contact with the drum and may stop them coming off

When I washed mine it had light brown stains on it. My neighbour told me they were dried champagne stains. She had washed hers previously inside a duvet cover in the WM. Hers was beaded, mine wasn't but I used a duvet cover anyway as extra protection. Think I put mine on a delicate wash with ordinary washing powder in it (eg whatever I had in). Don't think I put fabric softener in but can't remember 100%.

I decided to wash mine to see if the material could be made into a Christning dress for my DD. I took the view that if it didn't work, then the money I'd *saved* by not having it professionally cleaned could go on buying DD a dress instead.
