I know what you mean AI about the OH spending! It does take time to re-train them into new spending habits, but make him go cold turkey for a month, and you get your hair done and some clothes!
I feel awful as its OH that works and earns all the money - then he is told that he can't have any at the end of the month! I do try to allocate some "pocket money" for him, and thats it - he doesn't have anything else for spending unless he gets lots and lots of overtime in a month.0 -

Hardly *anyone* can *afford* to spend £88 on a haircut or lining the some wrinkly sun-fried old hag's (they always are) pocket (I imagine nursery owners are of the same ilk - hubby sets up the business and rely on min. wage slavery to run)... the people who do spend £88 on haircut usually have lots of debt or f&cked up priorities...
I'd be celebrating the fact you have more common sense:j .....0 -

That's exactly it.. Ste works really hard to bring in the money so it doesn't seem fair of me to tell him what he can and can't do and TBH I'm just happy that he's accepted the changes we've made already. I think part of me feels guilty because I stay at home and look after the kids while he goes out to work full time to support us. Feels like I'm constantly telling him what to do with his own money if that makes sense!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

But in a way I feel like I can't force him to change so I make all the sacrifices for him... does that make sense??
Why can't you force him to change? Not being funny - just nosey!! :)Did he help you debt or was it just you? I'm sure you've said, but your thread is a little long to search through!CCCS DMP:Feb 07

Well he has one credit card with £1500 or thereabouts on it, had a DCA debt, and a pc loan. Together we ran up the mothercare card and had the blackhorse loan for our family venture portrait. The rest are mine.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

You can definitely find a haircut cheaper than £35.
I know a place in zone 1 in London that will cut long hair for £26.
Alot of places will also give you a good discount if you go off peak and with your hair already washed.0 -
Hairdressers around here charge wierdly. Not only by what you have done, but also by whomever cuts your hair!!!
A cut and colour is around £70 for the newbie cutter, and £150 for the same thing for the salon owner/top hairdresser to do it!
I go to the salon at Tesco. £20 for a full cut/wash/dry (no colour - box off the shelf for me!) and I really like the girl who is there - she is very good and should be in a better salon than the Tesco one, but I wont suggest that to her!0 -

As to your hair. Don't know, it does seem a bit mean then you do without whilst Ste gets everything, but you have got debts to pay and possibly a reduction in income coming. The college is out then, any nearby towns tha wouldn't cost you that much to travel to you could contact. Any of the hairdressing salons have training schools themselves that would be cheaper?. You could also ask on local moneysaving board of any reasonable good mobile hairdressers in your area.0
