IA- while i would agree that it's tempting to put all the money into debt, I would also agree that maybe a little spend on yourself would help generally to make you feel good :) Have a see if there's a college near you - would be cheap and still a nice feel good thing :) Have you got spends for the concert sorted?

If not a college, some hairdressers do model nights, which can be cheaper.

Called up for quotes for my hair as our local college doesn't do it anymore. £88 for a cut and colour. :( So can't afford it anyway.
Anyway, Barnaby's right. Why should I use the ebay money to get my hair done when we've still got loads of debt outstanding. :(

Guess I'll just wash it and give it a trim as usual tonight. Ah well.

    Hi IA
I've kept away from your thread (even though I still read it) because I thought I'd upset you when you posted your budget and I thought you'd put down 2 driving lessons for Steve by mistake but I feel now I have to post because, even though I know you are dedicated to being DFW - I feel you must get your hair done. You've done so very, very well and I think you deserve a treat and going without having your hair done for 2 years is unbelievable. I'm going to risk upsetting you again but only because I admire you so much (does that make any sense), look at it like this - Steve has got a new TV, Steve has got a new thingy (X Box??) Steve spends approx £4 every day - what do you get?? £4 worth of clothes - allow yourself the £4 a day that Steve gets and it will soon add up so you can pay for your hair doing (even back date it). Your hair will make you feel so much better and upbeat and goddamit girl - you deserve it. Think about yourself for a change and allow yourself a treat. Wheres the debt going to go - nowhere - it will still be there, if needs be I'll send you the money myself.

    Ok, rant over, sorry :o

I wasn't trying to rain on the parade. It just annoys me that Barclaycard are getting so much in interest out of you. It's not about punishing yourself for being in debt but getting one over on Barclaycard who make the profits out of the minimum payment types.

Mobile hairdressers tend to be cheaper than salons. Anyway you could barter a couple of hours babysitting in return for a haircut, hairdressers are badly paid.

£88 is ridiculous, some people have more money than sense and the staff only get minimum wage, so who ever is contributing to oppressing the working masses so by not doing it it's a karma/political statement.... it's YOUR ebay money from YOUR stuff, don't want to line the pockets of some wrinkly old salon owner who's spent too long on her own sunbed.

Sorry Weller I didn't realise you thought you'd upset me! You didn't honestly! You are right though. Ste always gets things and I chastise myself for getting £4 of clothes? I think they way our relationship is I just watch the money while he spends it and makes sure there's enough to cover the bills :rotfl: Seriously though he is tonnes better with spending that he used to be and will always go along with what I tell him. But in a way I feel like I can't force him to change so I make all the sacrifices for him... does that make sense??

lol. you are right. Hairdressers really annoy me as Ste's haircuts which he has once in a blue moon cost £6.50. When I want mine done it's flippin £88 and I have to save up for ages to be able to afford it.. How do people afford to go every month and pay those kind of prices???? That was the cheapest place I could find and just a bog standard cut was going to be £35. The colour was £57!!!!! There's no way we can afford crazy prices like that. Think I'll just buy a box hair dye like I normally do. Have bought ones with highlighting hits before but can never get it right so just go for plain old boring colours!

I think part of me is just fed up because I know that even when we've paid off debt we're still not going to be able to afford £88 a time to have my hair done properly!!!
