    Good morning Hypno,

Hopefully when you're settled in the new house with it being smaller and more efficient there's likely to be extra savings on gas, electricity etc., will you also save on council tax. House insurance should be lower too. So maybe the extra savings will add up to more free cash too, but it would be hard to estimate until you're actually there.

Just been catching up, was a long journey and overnight stay for OH's work Christmas Party Thursday night, I don't normally enjoy them, too much politics in ones I've been to in the past, but this was different they're a really nice crowd , and it was actually fun, I hope partners are invited again next year :)

Sounds like a good party, se - I have to admit that it is one of the things I will find strange this year - going to the office party without a partner, when most people there will be couples. Oh well, it has to be done, I suppose!

My council tax will be the same, and I think my utilities will be about the same, on account of having power showers, etc which I don't have now, but I certainly don't expect them to be more than they are now.

Just the fact that there is no other debt will make a good difference!

Glad the budgets in the new house will have a little bit of wriggle room. Will your council tax really not be less, ie because it is smaller?

I guess the answer with the mystery shops is only do the ones that are not going to put you out too much... You seem to make a decent amount from them so perhpas a balance.

I would echo about the sorting and packing. Well done on the free cycling. I got rid of a lot of bulky stuff when we moved out here. Sadly not enough of the clothes though:o

The house is probably no smaller - in terms of floor space, but has less rooms. As we had our current council tax rebanded thanks to MSE last year, I wasn't expecting there to be another change when we move.

That sounds like something very grown-up and settled to look forward to. That is still a big mortgage repayment for you to meet every month on your own, but I'm sure you'll find even more inventive ways of making/saving money.

Good for you on the boxes and Freecycle - slowly, slowly catchy monkey ;)

    Have a good day xx

Good morning Hypno, you should be so proud of how far you have come and to be able to manage a mortgage of that size on your own and a huge achievement. It's similar to my position and if I had been told 3 years ago I would be coping on my own I would never have believed it :T

I've been for a run - only 3 miles but that is fine.....I might go out on my own tomorrow for something a little longer.

mac, I hope I am not going to be too "grown up and settled" - this girl needs to learn how to have more fun, you know :rotfl:

I'm just going to have a coffee, then shower once the dishwasher and washing machine have finished their thing, and then will see about those boxes - I have made room in the conservatory to stack things once they are done, so hopefully it won't encroach in our way too much!

Do you still do some mystery shopping, Hypno? I thought you'd knocked it on the head? I've decided not to do any unless they really appeal to me - even the easy coffee shop ones don't, because the free food you get is gluten-heavy bread! - but I don't actually look any more.

And its great to think of you in your lovely new house planning on having fun!

Hypno I have to admit that I cringed a bit when I saw the 'settled' word too (Sorry Mac but I hate it, it just sounds like the end of all fun and adventure!). You are starting on the next stage of your adventure lady...and you'll do it brilliantly!
