I agree Buffy but I do wish Hypno would hurry and start paying off the mortgage as I lurk on here and the total only changes once a month now. :rotfl:Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -

Morning all......today is the first day of Lent, and whether you are religious or not, it is an ideal time to have a think about either giving something up for a few weeks, or just having a little re-assess about where you are in your grand plan, and what you could change/do to make things different.
My obvious, and usual "thing" will be to give up chocolate and sweets - that needs to be done anyway, as I need to eat a balanced diet over these last few weeks ahead of the marathon.
I will also, however, use the next few weeks to assess where I am, what jobs need to be done that didn't get done after moving, what I need to get rid of to make my space right for me for the rest of the year, etc etc.
So, whilst not exactly "lenten" for those that follow such things, it will be my interpretation of these next few weeks, I guess, and I aim to hit Easter in a really really positive manner

Morning lovely. My tinternet has been broken but it's ok now and it's lovely to see you so positive.
Missed all the ironing chat. I'm away to iron my clean bedding this morning before it goes on the bed. I'll get my coat!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Morning! Lent, oh dear - I actually bought a lemon yesterday to make pancakes, and then forgot ... so Lent will have to start a day later for me, oops. Then I won't be giving up so much as moving forward - getting toned and hair-dyed to within an inch of my life for that wedding I'm going to on Easter Saturday

Nah, I have 30,171 posts....the 27,500 relates to the number of posts that have been worthy of the "thanks" button being pressed....meaning I have typed 2671 posts of no interest or use whatsover :rotfl:
Re my "lent project" I have done a mind map this morning to highlight the things I need to achieve in the next 6 or 7 weeks.....it is all doable, but as always just needs me to actually get on and do it!
Souk - ironing is my new hobby - I no longer can cope with the sight of dry laundry that needs ironing, and have no where to hide it in this house (the old house was very good for that sort of thing), so out comes the ironing board most several times a week. I washed a set of bedding last night, which is drying today, and which will get ironed tonight before being put on the bed tomorrow - Thursdays is the day my cleaner comes, so bedding gets changed then when everything is all tidy and lovely

Morning!
Can't get the thing to multi-quote this morning!!
car insurance - we got as far as confuzzled.com & also decided that tomorrow (today) is another day - lol
pancakes - ate them over the weekend, stuffed with savory bits - they were ready packaged and so tempting - no patience to actually make them from scratch!
lent - giving up listening to Beethoven for 40 days- already gave the grocery budget the overhaul at the beginning of January so nothing left to give up foodwise! - OH says he'd like to give up working but that would be dependant on winning the lottery!:rotfl:
Have a lovely day all

Morning
Ohh looking forward to what plans the mind mapping throws up!!
I feel another journey comming on£112121.02 10 Years and counting!Target in 2011 £22K /£10646.97 DFD Feb 201742Lbs /23 Down 19 to go!:shocked:So now I just need to keep going!Nearly half way through the year and I'm still here0 -
Well, so far it has not thrown up anything too exciting - but there are several areas for "work" to be done. Eg...home.....there are boxes still on the landing that need to be unpacked, stored properly, or disposed of. There are pictures that I need to decide whether they are actually *right* for my new house, or whether I need new ones for the spaces I have etc.....and there are a couple of journeys to the tip that need to be done with stuff from the garage, packaging etc. I also need to buy storage for my bedroom, and a desk for DS, so a trip to IKEA has to be done.....
Moneywise - I need to decide on proper budgets - I am doing ok so far, but I want to ensure that I am making absolutely the most of what money I have coming in, in a sensible way that also allows me to have funI do not want to end up on the slippery slope back to being in a lot of debt.
Admin - I have some old small accounts with literally pence in them, from my days of many pots of money budgeting, that never worked for me, so they need to be closed down - things like an ISA with a balance of 10p, and two old dormant accounts for the children, plus an ING account that I opened to get the "refer a friend" bonus from MSE, which I then never used for anything else - time to take the £27 that sits in there, and put it in with my current savings.
I also have the old house insurance policy still to cancel, plus car insurance to do, and a quidco query for my breakdown cover....stuff like that really needs doing, and getting out of the way, I just have to get on and do it.
So, it is full of things like that - sending back the old broadband router to Orange - they have sent a prepaid envelope for goodness sake, so it is not exactly difficult to do!
I think if I use these next few weeks to do these jobs, I can go into the summer a lot "lighter" and feeling less cluttered. Although compared with the old house, this is NOTHING on the clutter scale! I just don't want it to be the thin end of the wedge!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
