thanks.....he was such a part of who I am (not just biologically)....he was my original running partner - we did many half marathons and my first London marathon together, for example.....he gave me so much inspiration for the music I still have loud in my kitchen, and we went to gigs together right up until he died, and so on and so forth. it will be his football scarf that I wear tomorrow at the football too.....

So he wasn't just my dad, he was so much more......and for that I am truly grateful.

In that respect you are very lucky.

I know. And that is why even as the years go by, it is still so bloody hard. But I know I have been lucky to have had that, and as I say, I am truly grateful.

((hypno)))))) hugs for you today xxx
  • I would be so proud if any of my children spoke about me when I'm gone the way you do about your dad and I am sure that even though life can be cruel and take some too young that your dad would be proud that he left the world a little bit better for having been in it and that's a huge achievement especially for a parent because as all parents know it's a hard job and we don't alway get it right and it sounds like your dad 'got it right' and that's lovely.
    Take care x

And of course, losing him inspired me to get debt free....it was the money that I inherited from him that enabled me to start paying off my debt, and I so didn't want that to have been in vain, so I vowed to continue paying it off so that he hadn't "wasted" his money.....

  • Hypno his time nor his money were clearly not wasted on you, his investment in both has clearly paid off dividends and that has shone out throughout your diaries.

I was worried about drinking this evening for fear of becoming a miserable drunk (which I am not normally - I do happy drunk normally!).....

Emmmm, yes after last weekend I think we'd worked that one out :rotfl:.

Glad the day is nearly over Hypno. My dad died 8 years ago and I can't even remember the date - things like that don't really register with me, but if I see a little navy Fiesta :(. And someone buying a 1/2 bottle of whisky reminds me of my mum who, when she was housebound, used to phone for a taxi then pay the driver to go to the shop and buy her some :rotfl:. Apparently that's quite a common occurence :D

Ah Hypno, that's all lovely to hear. Must be really tough for you. A friend lost her mum this week and my deputy lost her mum and dad at around this time of year and was sad earlier in the week. All we can do is appreciate them while we have them and then make them proud when they're gone. And you have certainly done that. Look at all the brilliant things you've achieved, enjoy your wine and know that indeed, life goes on XXX
