There's a specialist firm I heard about on radio 4 which offers add-on insurance for newly qualified drivers on parents' insurance and another for learner drivers. I'll post up the name later.

yes, and the alternator.....I think it is just because I am using the car less and less this winter and it is sitting about a lot. Once ski-race season starts at Easter, there will be long journies every weekend so it will hopefully be better (she says, hopefully!).

That would be very useful, thank you - my insurance is due next month, and with DD turning 17 in June, it is something that I will need to address very shortly!

I've found the rather garbled note I made.

The Company is called Provisional Marmalade in Peterborough I think. There might be another name for the policy for newly qualified drivers but similar idea. The guy speaking was I think Crispin something.

As I said it's an add on so I think you have your normal insurance with whoever/whichever ins co and then buy this cover. It's for drivers learning in their parents' car, payable monthly and ring fenced so that if the learner has an accident the parents' no-claims bonus isn't affected.

I haven't googled the company so hope I've noted it all correctly and that it's still available.

I am certainly enjoying my spare time a lot more these days, mac - that is for sure :) I am very lucky that I have a lot of friends who have stuck by me through thick and thin over the years and who didn't "drop" me for example when I kept making excuses about not going out etc.....

And a nice smattering of new friends too - who have been very good for me over these last few months.....:T

Well, that is the test of true friendship - the only ones worth keeping are those who stick around through the bad times.

It's all good - hurrah for fun times with good friends, old and new
