yes, I accept we could have "chosen" a cheaper sport......ah well, I reckon it has been a good investment over the years - I have many ski friends, and have had plenty of good times along the way, year in, year out :D

So.....what does this evening present me with - oh, quelle surprise, the pile of ironing that didn't get done last night because I went skiing.....:o Gourmet meal of pizza and chips for dinner, then the ironing pile beckons, before settling down to watch "biggest loser" at 9.....

I hope you have all had a good day - all is well in hypno's world, and I hope it is in yours too xx

All is tired in mine. Also I think I am going to stop running - I thought that it is hard to find boots to fit me because I am fat. Untill my friend pointed out that I am not fat but have enormous calfs from running. Duh!

Envy creeps and threatens to eat my soul! I want boots like yours, Hypno...Next year.

    *Hijacks thread*

I have huge calves from running up and down stairs all day.

That, and a bit of flab as well. ;)

Firewalker, someone told me that Duo on King's Street will make boots to the measure of your calves. You go in, they measure you up then make them accordingly. I think they are a bit more expensive than average, but if they fit...well, it would be at the top of my 'protected wants' list. ;)

*Returns thread to Hypno and the gang* Sorry Hypno!

It's not necessarily a choice...it sounds like it's something you and your family have nearly always done, so it would only be natural to your children. It would have been deprivation to have not let them do it unless it was really not possible. A bit like me telling any children I have that they can't play a musical instrument. It's just the way it goes.

And it sounds like you all do pretty well out of it! ;)

oh certainly don't worry about hijacking my thread when talking about beautiful footwear!!

Firewalker, it took me YEARS before I could get lovely boots - and only because of the weight I lost after XOH left.....don't give up running just because of the boots! Running gives me so much more than that - a clear head, and the opportunity to get my stressful day out of my system are invaluable!

But, oh I can't deny it - I love my boots!

And yes, I get plenty out of the skiing....as I say, it has been a good investment in many ways!

I would have thought a compromise was in order tbh. If I had been Hypno I would have done skiing but got my kids to do something [STRIKE]cheaper[/STRIKE] different like tiddlywinks or maybe scrabble ;).

Seriously, that's the perils of being sporty/musical. Fortunately my 2 inherited my coordination and musical skills :o. Although as an adult DS is now good at golf.

Even so, gally - I reckon some of those professional tiddlywink sets can be really expensive - and have you *seen* the cost of top level coaching in that sport  No, I think we will stick to skiing.......:D
