I think the last few weeks have been reflective TBH, which is nice in some ways, and pretty crappy in others - since being in this house I have lost my Dad, seen my marriage break down, and have been to the brink with the debt.
Those are all pretty huge things to look back on, but of course to offset that there are the childrens skiing achievements, the fact that we still managed to pay for them to do so much abroad, including DDs trip to China, the debt is all but gone, and the fact that we are all fairly fit and healthy in body and (occasionally) in mind!
So, very mixed. BUT the new house is to be a happy house - the children and I have agreed that from the outset. It is to be a place where laughter will be heard, where friends will be welcome, and where the ironing pile does not dominate the lounge.
I have a very good feeling about the future - I just have to get the practicalities of the next few days out of the way and that, for anyone, is always going to be fairly stressy......even without the complications of it being Christmas week too!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh yes, you don't do things by halves - but it will make for a great story in years to come! It's a clean start and I think it *will* be a happy house for you all - you're starting the positive changes already and they will continue.
So enjoy your last weekend saying goodbye to this home and pack up your memories. Take care and have a good day0 -
This year has been a difficult one, and there's lots to look back on, both good and bad, but the new house is just what you need.
The house will feel so empty once all the spare furniture has gone, but starting afresh is good. When I first moved here, over 20 years ago, I was the opposite, I'd move from a one bed flat and we rattled around for years.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Wow, Hypno, I really admire the way you're *going* for a social life, even in the middle of the move - I wish I had your energy.
This present house has certainly seen so many ups and downs for you, hasn't it. Lovely to agree with your children that the new house will be full of laughter and happiness. I'm so, so pleased for you :kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Chev - I will certainly be sticking around - my mortgage will still be significant, my budgets will still need keeping control of, and I still need you lot to remind me that I'm doing ok!! So I won't be going anywhere anytime soon!!
KC - I *need* the social life - it is a vital part of my "therapy" if you like. Sounds odd, perhaps, but it is a huge need going forward, that I really need to keep working on.
More boxes packed.....XOH has taken the last of his stuff, and now it is time for toast and marmite.....
Oh, and rest assured, I have packed the tin of sprouts.......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
