  • I've picked up a few bargains in my time for ebay. I like looking in poundland and homebargains. I picked up some Lego from poundland and sold it for £3.20 - not a massive profit. :) (there's quite a few goodies from Home Bargains on ebay - the Scriptease bed cover sold for £2.99 but its gone for £19 online!)

Toys are good sellers - I cleared out my cuddly toys from the loft and made about £100!

Also, I won some designer sunglasses year ago in a raffle. I put them on ebay and sold them for £40 to a collector which was good cos they were just sitting in my cupboard.

My inlaws cleared out their loft and found loads of Thunderbirds toys from 1993, that were given away by Fina petrol stations. Needless to say they went for £15 a go!

EDIT: my best buy ever was from a pound shop. I bought 3 sets of Moomin toys. for £8 in total and sold them for £60. I was very pleased :)

Were there any particular type of soft toys e.g. characters? Did you put them on singly or groups? Just wondering as I have half a loft full of soft toys!

A guy on a local market stall sells lots of Clarins sets really cheaply. I used to buy everything he had (for extra discount), split the sets up and sell them individually on ebay i.e. paid £9 a set and sold contents for about £40-£45. Unfortunately he doesn't get enough to turn it into a full-time business.

I have lots of old rock tour t-shirts as well as coloured vinyl and limited edition stuff I collected in my "youff" so thanks for that tip....time to get rid I think!

    :D
  • It depends, research your toys, see what sold and how much for

I did group similar toys together - e.g sheep ones but famous ones e.g I had a Babe the pig I sold him separately

I'm a regular ebayer. Be careful, when i was in college last year i practically dropped out, just to ebay, and pack parcels all day. Didn't go in for ages, and only jus passed my course, and fluked my way into uni. I'm not gonna tell you all my secrets, cuz I'm gonna be back into it soon, specially as i finish for xmas soon from uni. Broken ipods, if you can pick 1 up off friend or something, well worth it, they usually go for like £40-50, if not more, specially the full size ipods. iPod minis that are broke still sell well. Done that so much i wouldnt be able too tell you all the prices. Mobile phones in good nick, if their relatively new, go have a look at completed listings, made a killing through that as well. Kind of obvious. At the moment im looking into wholesalers and suppliers for a few things i got on my mind, and gonna start going to charity shops, and car boot sales. Gonna take some notes from this thread I think.
Best money saver is for multiple pictures, jus host them on photobucket, and make some thumbnails, and make them clickable for a new window. Also, to a certain extent, when using BIN, to save on fees instead of having BIN 9.95 with PP 1.95, try BIN 7.95 PP 3.95, wont save you THAT much, but if your a big ebayer like me, im sure it will. Will post any new finds up, am going to town tomorrow to browse some charity shops.
  • I bought an old Bakelite clock at a charity sale for 50p a few weeks ago, and just sold it on eBay for £66.

Carlton WAlking Ware plates - or any crockery with 'feet' on them. Bought a set in a charity shop for £16 as I knew what they were - £200 on eBay.

Ant and Bee children's books - 39p turned to £16. But they are pretty rare.

Barbie 'mary jane' shoes - these fit Blythe dolls so go for a lot on eBay. Also old Skipper clothing (will also fit Blythe), Sindy dolls/clothing/friends. Actually, I shouldn't say that, I quite like the Tammy dolls!

The Sackboy pattern in this month's Simply Knitting mag seems to be a big seller just now - some I've seen go for £10, so if you bought the mag anyway...

I bought some Strawberry Shortcake mugs from Oxfam, two broke on the way home, so I listed the remaining pair on eBay. One sold for £2. The other? £75. Believe me, I was kicking myself that the others broke!

I Had a mobile i bought new from ebay for £12 & just didnt get on with it at all, so sold it couple months later now second hand for £24.50!!

I had an old broken mini ipod sold for £20
    Old broken camera £5
  • I once bought an interior carpet from a Williams Renault Clio to fit into my old clio that i was tidying up. Bought for £35. Never got round to fitting it into the car and thought i would throw it up on ebay to try and recoup some of the cost back as i never expected it to sell.

Result was that it went for £120 via auction. I also second chanced two more bidders and went a bought 2 more of the carpets from sellers. Quite a tidy little profit for little work.

And thats how my ebay business began.
