I know most people find it easier on themselves to blame the victim and believe that she'd sort it all out herself if she was unhappy. This absolves them of any and all responsibility to try and help.

People who think like this don't have any concept of how continual bullying wears you down to the point where you can't act in your own interest. That's why it takes victims of domestic abuse so long to get away from their bullying partners.

This woman is suffering domestic abuse - it doesn't matter that it's from her son, it's affecting her in just the same way.

Unless the family can get together and stand up to the son or take her out of the situation long enough for her to see that she doesn't have to put up with his behaviour, I can't see anything changing but, if it was me in this position, I'd hope there was a lauren around to help me!

Yes I get know I was just overly sensitive, Sorry McKneff.

I will get her the snuggle robe and try to get a washing machine on Freecycle we need to go up really anyway and drop off the pressie's so maybe we could try and get one that weekend.

I think theres loads of second hand furniture places in Grimsby & Cleethorpes if I remember rightly!

Feel free to PM me if you need any help, I live there :)

Might be worth contacting The Home Shop, they sell various home things and help out with basic furniture (perhaps including washing machines?) at even cheaper prices for those claiming benefit like Income Support etc. They also give advice too.
