And a good policy to. I live where there is a minority group who had the whole family to buy three of everything, looks a bit odd when on the till next door to her mum was an eight year old buying £30 worth of special offer soap pwder etc.............. And a 10 year old a till further on doing exactly the same. Its not fair to the rest of the community imho:mad:"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
They are loss leaders, and they want people in their store. But was the manager polite ,did he embarrass you ,was he diplomatic, because if he was not ,then you have won ,write to head office ,and tell them about how you feltTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0

...I thought you were shopping in Tesco??“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
Sorry my mistake i meant Tesco branded sweets, was doing my online shopping at the same time on asda.com while posting  :doh:Smiley_Mum wrote:...I thought you were shopping in Tesco??0 -
We would love to know which shop it really was? I've had 3 interesting experiences in Tesco recently.
1. I sent a complaint letter to their Head office about a Tesco finest product that was not fit for the cat. The 3 small pieces of meat in it were ALL gristle. The reply? A neutral letter saying thank you for bringing this to our attention. And that was it. Not even a refund of the purchase price.
2. I returned to my local store a punnet of peaches. Meant to be ripened at home but didn't and when I cut into the first one it was all black inside. The customer service lady who was very nice said she wouldn't offer me replacement product as they had had so many of them back it would be a waste of time. She then refunded the purchase price. When I asked 'did this not mean I was disadvantaged as had the fault been an isolated one and not known to be widespread, I would have been offered a replacement AND the money back. She said this is NOT Tesco policy. I thought it was?
3. I went to Tesco Coventry (makes you wonder why I bother!) and wanted a quick cuppa and something sweet, didn't much care if it was cake or cookie or anything. Staff were appalling and when I asked for the manager they got him on the phone (he was busy elsewhere!!) and the lad said to me" he's willing to speak to you on the phone" whilst holding the phone out to me. I went apoplectic and expplained I expected to speak to him in person. The staff member then spoke on the phone again and told me the manager would be there pronto. When he arrived (in about 30 secs) he was absolutely ace and was appalled at his staff and personally made me a cup of coffee (their machine was broken!) and personally toasted 2 tea cakes (they had no stock of any cake etc) and I was so tired I was very quiet and just thanked him for his help. He disappeared and came back a couple of mins later with a tesco money card with £7.50 of credit on it in apology, having already said the coffee and the tea cakes were free gratis!
Lesson? It seems to be the luck of the draw as to whether you get that magical thing called 'service'. Keep looking!:rotfl:0 -
soups wrote:Hello
a friend and I went to tesco to take advantage of offers, we had a trolley full with products on offer, we were approached by the manager while at the check out and we were informed:
Sorry you can't buy those items as you bough more than 10 of them and they are on offer. left everything at the check out and just walked out.
Friend went back in to speak to the manager and ask him why they refused to sell us what we picked, they said Tesco policy is not to sell more than 10items at one time and they showed her a sticker on the wall with small prints (which she needed a microscope to read) and said it says on there! we go shopping very frequent and buy items on offer in bulk (15-20of each) some supermarket (Morisons) even help us take the items off the shelve!!
Anyone had this problem before

will we realise we cannot eat money0 -
I do tend to stock up on special offer items, though I would seldom attempt to buy more than 10 of an item, but if somebody's having a party or something it's quite natural that they would. I don't imagine for a moment that there is anything altruistic in Tesco's (or any other supermarket's) policy of limiting special offer purchases. I have no problem with the policy itself, but limits should be clearly marked on shelf edges rather than hidden in the small print.0
