We decorate our room about 10 days before Christmas but the tree trimming gets done on CHRISTMAS EVE. When our first child was a baby and crawling it was 'felled' so often that we decided the following year to trim it Christmas Eve. H would go down Christmas morning, switch on the tree lights and then wake S up - so magical. We've done it that way ever since. Now the children are all grown up but it's become sort of tradition now. D trims the tree while I crack on with the Christmas Eve meal. :xmastree:
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I have a friend who puts hers up on the 1st of November:eek: That's too soon for me - I would be sick of the damn thing be December.

Mine usually goes up around the 12th - dunno about this year though, DS2 will be 18 months by then and he's very curious and destructive:eek: (DS1 was never a problem) I will see how it goes

  • I had a Christmas tree one year

Hate putting it up and taking it down again - made the room look really bare when it was down

so haven't bothered since and not going to do it this year either

Have Christmas cards up and thats it

May get a wreath for the front door

DH usually has last week Nov or first week dec off (to buy
my xmas pressies and birthday pressents) and he puts it up then

I used to hate how bare the house looked after I took the decorations down so now I start taking them down bit by bit from boxing day onwards. The tree stays up until the 12th night and that way it's not so much of a shock as taking them all down in one go. A lot easier too LOL
