OOh, feeling all Christmassy now, tucking into a cup of tea and my first mince pie (Asda Extra Special, on offer at a £ this week, scrummy!) for the occasion. Don't have kids so don't have a day that's tradition so to speak. Goes up anywhere between 1st and 20th Dec and comes down on 1/2 Jan. Love it when its all up but glad to get back to normal.;)0

My sister lives in USA and is unable to visit mum's grave (which I don't particularly like doing in the winter anyway) so we decided that our way of remembering mum is to put our trees up on Dec 10th each year and we usually call each other up while we're doing it. I'm sure our mum would have approved of our new 'traditions' .

Our's used to go up on the 1st of Dec, but that day is now a sad day so it goes up the weekend after that, when ever it falls. Last year we was having the house rebuilt and it got thrown up at 10.30pm Xmas eve - never again, down and away by the 12th night, always.

When I was a child the tree always went up on Christmas Eve. One year Mum reminded:rolleyes: Dad to get it but of course he got waylaid at the pub:beer: When he left there were no trees to be found. Would he dare come home without one - not likely. He rode his bicycle to the local agricultural college and 'pruned' one of their specimens:o He then had to drag this giant back home with his bike (4 miles). It was so big that it had to be wedged into the corner with some cut off the top and the bottom
If I had my way it would still be put up on Christmas Eve and then taken down on 6th Jan but to compromise for my family it goes up on the weekend before the 25th along with the other greenery that comprises our decorations.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060 -
