its a complete joke.
their grace period for me is up tomorrow....havent heard a peep from them so i shall be on the phone tomorrow!0 -
is this one of those reclaims that if you don't ask, you don't get? or is HMRC working their way through and I should hear something from them? reason I am asking is I can't work out if my code is wrong or not. When I put in my code to the checker, it says I am overpaying (my code is 529L) but I have also have a pension, medical plan etc.. which accounts for 123.37 per month. So which pre-tax salary should I be netering into the tool? The one before these benefits are taken out or the one after?
Thanks:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -

No ........ it doesn't tell you that. All it tells you is that your Code is different to the norm (647) for your age / salary.
You have £1180 restricted from your Code for some reason. The Medical benefit may well account for that? The P11D provided by your employer should tell you what figure of 'benefits' they have provided to HMRC. And you should have a P2(Coding notice) from HMRC telling you how the 529L is arrived at?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

I found my P11D from July 10 for tax year ending April 10 but that was on the same code too (529L). That details my taxable benefits as 'Total of other items (class 1A) to 118. So multiply that by tem we get 1180 - I guess I am on the correct code:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -

They arranged an amount to be repaid on the 25th November, got checked and was found to be wrong!!! They cancelled that claim (did not tell me) and redid it on the 23rd December. That is when the clock started for their 14 working days. I now have to wait until the 13th January and if I have not recieved anything, to call them on the 14th.
Even though it was not my fault they made an error, they restart their 14 day clock on the NEW amount they calculated on the 23rd!!!
HMRC do seem to work in a world of their own, if I was on self-assessment and made a mistake I do not think their grace period would be so generous!!
Rant over until the 14th January
exactly the same has happened to me
rung today to be told that the amount calculated on 22nd nov was WRONG - and they recalculated on 5th jan. so starts the 14 day period again... im absolutely fuming - thats MY flippin money!0 -
I turned 65 in September 2009. For the tax year 2009/10 I have received only a proportion of the higher tax allowance of £9490 from my birthday until 5/4/2010. I have read that in the tax year when one turns 65 you get the whole of the tax allowance. Can anyone help please?
You do get the whole allowance - BUT they may hold some of it back if tax will be due on your state pension.0 -
please can i ask what number everyone is ringing please? is it a 01 number?0
