  • I found the Tax Code calculator confusing - says it's wrong by over £3K, brill you think, but I believe that's because it doesn't allow me to add any other income.  I added both incomes together (gross of course) and it still says it is wrong by £3K.
I also get a tax deduction for having a company medical benefit - and you can't add this in either - so the Tax Code calculator doesn't work for folk if you have more than one income then!?

Have you added together not just the gross incomes but also the two tax codes?
If you've only one job, simply plug your salary and tax code into our calculator. If you've multiple jobs, tot up your total personal allowance given to you by your tax codes – for example, tax codes 300L and 250L would give you a tax-free allowance of £5,500. You can then compare this with the results in the calculator for each salary and code you enter.

This thread has only had seven posts in seven years, suggesting that the tool isn't particularly heavily used anymore, but the page itself does suggest that it should be up to date as of the start of the 2024/25 tax year - perhaps worth posting what you entered, what you expected, and what was actually returned?

I have used the tax code calculator, which says that I may have overpaid tax, but I receive the State Pension and work part time. I have added my pension to my part time earnings when entering my income. Is this correct? Also, Google tells me that my tax code 113L isn't for over 65's not sure of this is right or not. Can anyone advise?

    how much your earnings are

How much your state pension is

As per Sheramber but your tax code should be

12570 less annual state pension entitlement. Knock off the last digit and replace with an ‘L’.

    e.g. state pension 10250.

    12570 less 10250 is 2320. Code is 232L.

Age related allowances were phased out from 2013.
