Hi Choo,
sorry you've prob posted it already on your diary, but I only had a quick flick through, what are you studying?
We also bought NT passes, didn't get 30% off though, we were already at the castle and there was a stand set up by NT offering the family pass & free entry to the castle if we bought it (tickets to castle were around £14 each- shocking!) so we only put an extra bit towards it anyway....if I had known about quidco beforehand though...!
Is that £20 budget for the whole family for clothes? I put down £60 for 5 of us, everytime I think of changing it for less DS1 needs school trainers, or DS2 has grown out of his clothes lol so maybe i'll keep it as it is for a while longer, DD has kinda evened out now she is 2 so hoping DS2 will stop having growth spurts all the time (it's too expensive lol)

hi choogirl,
I'm still reading don't worry! so many diaries to keep up with :rotfl:
hope you have a fab time at Mamma Mia, sounds like just what you need to give yourself a rest from all the studying. And how great is it that you have saved up for it so can be utterly guilt free!! :T:T:T
my house insurance is a shocker every year as well, got a previous claim from subsidence (from YEARS ago long before I lived her) so makes it tricky to get other quotes. I always beat the current place down though when I ring up, so at least it hasn't gone up as much as it could have if I had just paid the bill when the letter arrived!
good luck with the rest of the studying. hope mr choogirl will make a big fuss of you when your exams are done!0 -
Good Morning
I was kidding when I thought that no-one liked me anymore (childhood insecurities - last one to be picked, no friends to play with etc etc ) No really I am only kidding!!!
Abba - I don't normally need an excuse not to do housework, I like it clean and tidy but find it hard to motivate and get going, once I get going theres no stopping me though.
Polly - I did manage to get a better quote, funnily enough we're with M&S and it was M&S that gave us the best renewal quote but I couldn't get them to give me a quote through Quidco so will have to try again or try topcash. So much for keeping existing customers happy, but I do like the M&S contents cover because it gives unlimited cover whereas alot will only insure upto £75000 contents. Now whilst we don't have marble baths and gold taps I think we will have easily spent over £75000 on furniture, tvs, clothes, shoes, toys etc so don't want to be underinsured.
DFW321 - I am studying ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accounts) and have the final 2 exams to do in June and then I will be fully qualified, abit ironic that I'm an Accountant and still ended up in debt, not a very good endorsement for me.
We budget £80 a month for clothes - £20 DH, £20 DS&DD, £20 me, £20 school uniform and shoes. I could probably do with increasing the kids allowance but try and do surveys to pay for any extras for those 2 as strangely enough they keep growing :rotfl:
Lionheartedgirl - I nearly died when I got the quote, we live in a really nice area, low risk, no flooding etc but its astronomical.
Mr Choo had better treat me after my exams otherwise there will be trouble.0 -
Good Morning
Well DD, MIL and I had the best day ever yesterday - Mamma Mia was fantastic!!! In fact I did so much singing my throat is hurting today and as for the dancing - well I was a Dancing Queen :rotfl:
DD loved it, she now wants to marry Sky and move to Greece bless her.
The £60 did very nicely, nothing left today but it was spent guilt free and it was lovely to have saved it and enjoyed it.
We had a lovely lunch in an italian restaraunt, enjoyed a few glasses of wine and I treated MIL to her lunch as she'd bought the tickets as a christmas present for us.
Today its back to reality - a pile of washing and finances to sort out.
I've taken some chicken out of the freezer to make a Thai curry for dinner tonight, make some naan breads, thai curry paste and a rhubarb sponge pudding and some baking for pack ups next week.
Right I'm off xx0 -
Haha to everyone popping in with their apologies :rotfl:!!!
Yay glad you had a fabbie day yesterday :T.
Re the home insurance, so do you think MnS will put the price through the roof next year for us then?! Hope you manage to find a good deal.
Happy Mondayxx

Good morning
Mummytogirls - I felt guilty when everyone started with their apologies - sorry everyone
I don't know why M&S put our premium up so steeply because we haven't made any claims but I've gone through their system as a new customer and the quote is coming out alot cheaper.
I'm 10 points away from Globaltest paying out a $50 cheque, which hopefully be £30 towards the handbag fund. I bet I get screened out of loads now.
I got into work this morning and there was a tin of chocolates and a bar of chocolate on my desk - the boss has returned from holiday and left them on my desk.
Am I supposed to be sharing them with the rest of the office? :rotfl:0 -

Hi LPMS, thanks for reading my wafflings.
I agree this site is brilliant, theres loads of ideas to borrow and the support is immense I certainly couldn't have got through the last 8 months without it.
Accountancy is something that I really enjoy as there are I like the rules and regulations side to it (I'm abit of a Monica from Friends)
Its definitely worth considering as there are so many different parts to it - tax, management accounts, financial accounts etc.
Good luck with clearing your debt xx0
