Bringing this drivel policy out would be an infringement on human rights.

It annoys me that because I am unemployed that I am tarred with the same kind of people who have never worked a day in their life, Get those people who can't be bothered to work and let me keep looking for work, Making me work for a month at 30 hours a week is only going to hinder my job search. I can't do that and get out and look for work, Wonder how much money we could save if we returned all immigrants who are claiming dole ? Oh wait were not allowed to do that, I forgot about human rights lol

Well, you remembered your own, you just forgot other people have them too.

True. Longs as they are here legally with a working/residence visa/permit.

Difference being they are here claiming, Some ( not all ) Come just for the free benefits, you and I both know it, If you come here and get a job then fair enough but claiming free handouts when you have contributed nothing is slightly off to me,

The idea in theory is good, however you can't tar everyone with the same " layabout " brush, Some folk on the dole are bone idol and have never done a days graft, Some folk get out there and apply for lots of jobs but just don't seem to get lucky with reply's,, If they are going to aim this at the real long term unemployed then fair enough, But don't make people who have worked hard in the past do the same stuff,

It's for people who haven't work for the last 8 years...if they have been on jobseekers THAT long then they are for sure layabout scroungers!

Where will we deport all the British born claimants who've never had a job?

How long should an immigrant who is made redundant be allowed to look for a new job before deportation? A week, a month, 6 months?

    Totally agree with that.
  • Person A burgles person Bs house, is caught and prosecuted and sentenced to community service.
Person B happens to have been signing on for the alloted time to "qualify" to have to do work in the community because he has been on Jobseekers Allowance for a certain amount of time.
He could feasibly be forced to work alongside the man who burgled his house. The likelihood of this happening is quite high.
Also after completion of the "work placement" some unemployed people will adopt the attitude "well ive done the community service so now Im going to commit the crime!

I wonder how people who work 38 hours a week manage to find time to find their next job.

The expression 'thin end of the wedge' leaps to mind.
